My dog ate a bone, now she's vomiting and can't poop. Is it serious?

Hi, my miniature dachshund who is 3 and a 1/2 stopped pooping three days ago. She has been violently throwing up her food. She hides under the bed when inside. When I let her outside to poop, she strains and strains but just cannot poop. She did poop mucus, though. I chopped up a laxative and put it on some peanut butter (her favorite food in the world is peanut butter!), but she would not eat it. We think that she swallowed a piece of bone that we gave her about 3 days ago. Can you help? Thanks

This is a medical emergency and Holly has to see a vet now. If she ate a bone three days ago, this could be causing an obstruction leading her to violently throwing up and be unable to pass feces. A laxative will not cure an obstruction. If this bone is causing an obstruction, she will need surgery to remove it. An obstruction is fatal without treatment, and Holly needs veterinary attention right away. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
