My one-month-old kittens' eyes keep closing. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old

Her kittens are one month old. Opened their eyes, running around and started eating. However I noticed every few days their eyes closes again. Is that normal. I use wet warm napkins trying to remove whatever closes it. But few days and they close again. What to do?

Great question, Jordan! It really sounds like your doing a great job so keep up the good work. It may be that the kittens have contracted a viral or bacterial infection. You'll want to continue to keep the eyes clean using a clean warm cloth for each kitten. This way you can prevent any cross contamination. Your local Veterinarian should be able to prescribe medication to help clear the infection or prevent further complication.
