Why does my senior cat's vomit have a foul odor but he seems healthy?

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Male | neutered | 11 years and 9 months old | 18 lbs

When my cat heaves before producing a hairball or vomit it smalls like death. He seems to otherwise be in fine spirits with regular appetite and bowel movements. He is almost 12 yesrs old and is an indoor cat. What could be caiding tjis?

A very foul odor like this can be caused by dental disease such as stomatitis or an infected tooth, some type of stomach problem, or a systemic illness like kidney disease or diabetes. Even if Loki is acting normal otherwise, it would be a good idea to have him checked by your vet when you are able to - he/she can examine his mouth for any problems, and may also recommend blood work to check for other issues that could be causing the odor.
