My dog suddenly pees everywhere, ignoring pads. Is it medical?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 13 days old

My dog is urinating excessively all over the house and as many weewee pads as I place around the place, she ignores it and urinates anywhere else. At times she uses the pads but she's being a brat now and just peeing where she wants. I trained her to use the pads and in the beginning she used them all the time but now all of a sudden, she's being a nuisance with all the urinating she is doing all over the place. I even bought the spray in the beginning and that helped but now....nothing.

It could be that Nala isn't being a brat, she could be suffering from a medical illness such as a UTI or bladder stones causing her to urinate in the home. I would have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis. If she does have a UTI or bladder stones, the vet can prescribe treatment for her.

There is a chance that Nala could be urinating inappropriately for medical issues, such as a urinary tract infection or bladder stones. First, take Nala to her vet for an exam and urinalysis. If no medical issues can be identified, you may need to try crate training her and essentially start over with house training. I realize that this is extremely frustrating, but start by ruling out underlying medical issues!
