Hi my cat is bringing up green sick or mucus and wonder what I can do or what the problem is. His 12 and was happy and lively this morning before bringing up the green mucus and now he won't eat or drink and wants to be alone I think, as always is with me in living room but from this afternoon up until now is laying down in bedroom. His normally very alert and fast but since I got in at 5:30pm his been lafargic and won't eat or drink. What should I do. Any help would be great. Robbie

Hi Robbie! There could be a variety of conditions causing Tom's vomiting, lethargy, and inappetence. Some of the more common causes include foreign body intestinal obstruction/blockage, viruses, kidney disease, liver diseases, cancer, among others. Since it sounds as though he's feeling quite poorly, Tom should see his vet today for an exam and lab testing to try to determine the underlying cause as well as address any dehydration that may have occurred. I hope he's feeling better soon!

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Vomiting is a symptom of many possibilities so it is difficult to say what the problem could be. If it has not been quite 24 hours, I would offer a bland diet of chicken and rice. If he continues to vomit or the symptoms worsen I would have him examined by a veterinarian so further testing can be done such as abdominal x-rays and blood work. If he is one to get into foreign material then this could very well be secondary to an intestinal blockage. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available via consultation if needed.

Hello. I am so sorry that Tom is not feeling well. There are so many things that can be causing his illness, internal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, ingestion of toxic plants or materials, or the ingestion of a foreign body, like string or ribbon. It is imperative that you find a veterinarian as soon as possible. Tom may need to have a few tests to try & narrow down the diagnosis, but hopefully, this will lead to a good treatment. I hope Tom is feeling better soon. Take care.
