I got my standard poodle last week (today he is 9 weeks old!) I have been crate training. Currently crate is in living rm, I have a small one story ranch style house. I have been trying not to let him out during the night and not letting him see me (trying to have him learn to hold his bladder at night). He has been barking, whining, howling most hours of the night. I am wondering if I should move his crate in my bedroom, in hopes of less barking/whining. What would your opinion be?

Congratulations on your new puppy! I love Standard Poodles - very smart dogs with lots of personality :) Yes, I would definitely recommend moving the crate into your bedroom. Dogs are very social animals, and young puppies like this would never be alone during the night if they were with their mother and littermates - so most pups are very anxious and upset if they are isolated like this. I would put the crate in your bedroom, right beside your bed if possible. You can rest your hand on top, or even stick your fingers in to let him smell and lick you if needed so that he knows you're nearby - this should help him to settle down much more easily and fall asleep. In a few weeks, once he's used to sleeping in the crate with no problems, you can begin to move it a bit further away if needed.
