My cat's milk glands are swollen after kittens. What should I do?

Hi! Chocolate gave to 2 kittens. Her milk "facilities" have swollen way too much, and the kittens can't drink it all. I'm worried they'll become too big, and that they will explode. What can I do?

Hello. The mammary glands will not explode. Just let the kittens nurse and the un-used mammary glands will decrease without stimulation. You just have to check her daily (or twice daily) that there is no development of mastitis. Feel each gland and rub them. If you are feeling hot, or cold (very big concern if cold) then get her to a vet. Express the milk from each nipple, if it is anything but white (yellow, green, clear) then get her to a vet. Otherwise just leave her alone. Good luck with Chocolate.
