Why did my pit bull's skin bumps worsen after hypoallergenic shampoo?

I have a7 month old pit bull. He had a break out of bumps under his fur along his spine. I changed his shampoo to hypoallergenic and they started to improve and were almost gone. I waited a few days and bathed him again with the hypoallergenic shampoo and after 24 hours he has even more bumps than the first time. Not sure what to do. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 55 lbs
