Why is my guinea pig's urine pink? Is it blood? Should I worry?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | 2 lbs

I had my guinea pig out for floor time and notices her urine starting to become pinkish when peeing, you can see in the pictures she was peeing normally for a while she was in here for about 2 hours with access to food water and hay.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Lucy. Poor girl! This looks like she has blood in her urine and this can be caused by a UTI, or urinary stones in the bladder or kidneys. She needs to see a vet for this problem to get it diagnosed and treated. I'd take her into a vet today. I hope this helps!

If it looked like blood it is probably blood, most likely due to a urinary infection. you will need to take him to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, he will need a course of antibiotics in order to resolve this condition.

Blood in the urine may indicate urinary tract infection or stones (although stones are unlikely in such a young pig). A bloody nose may indicate infection or injury in the respiratory tract. If it persists or worsens, have Jojo examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating pocket pets.

It sounds as though poor Coco has a urinary tract infection. This is typically caused by bacteria overgrowth and Coco will require antibiotic treatment. I would suggest contacting your local veterinarian that is skilled in treating guinea pigs to set up an appointment.

Thanks for reaching out about Charmander and including a photo. The photo is suggestive of a urinary calculi (stone), urinary tract infection or uterine disease (possible cancer). A veterinary visit is needed as soon as possible. Good luck.

I have a female guinea pig who has been bleeding when she urinated for the past 4 days, today she is acting strange. I have an appointment with a vet tomorrow but i want to know if there’s anything i can do for her right now
Blood in the urine may be a sign of bladder stones or an urinary tract infection. Make sure Coco stays well hydrated until her appointment tomorrow. You can entice her with veggies and fruits that have a high moisture content.

My 2 year old female guinea pigs have red-orange liquid around their butts. Do you know what it is? It doesn't look like blood, but I could be wrong.
That could be due to an blood inside the urine and be commonly due to urinary tract (bladder most likely) inflammation/infection. Other differentials could be skin abscesses or blood in the feces. A check up would be ideally needed to confirm clinical suspicion and treat appropriately. Urine analysis may be very useful to detect presence of crystals inside urine. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation) infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it. My baby guinea pig (female) about 2 months is peeing or pooping and blood is coming out. Could this be because I’m feeding her adult food and I just realized it? What’s wrong with her?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is not likely to be because of the food you are feeding her. This is though very concerning. This may be because of an inflammatory or infectious condition, among many other possibilities. For this reason, I recommend that you have Beaver evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible so that they can proceed with an exam, gathering more information and deciding what would be best for Beaver at this point. I hope they can help her!

My guinea pigs vigina is bleeding hellppp
A bloody discharge from the vagina could be caused by a severe UTI, bladder stones (quite common in guinea pigs), or a uterine/vaginal infection. There are no home remedies for this, I am afraid, so you will need to make an appointment with your vet for an exam and possibly x-rays.Infection is usually treated with injectable antibiotics and pain medicine. Bladder stones may need to be removed with surgery.
