My dog's poop is bloody. Could chewing wood cause blood in his poop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 78 lbs

My dog has been staying with a friend until our house is rebuilt and they just informed me yesterday that there has been blood in his poop for about 2 to 3 weeks now. It irritates me they never mentioned this till now. Monty likes to chew on wood here and there, could that cause the blood in his poop?

I'd be irritated too! Since Monty likes to chew on wood, yes this could be causing it but I cannot say for certain without seeing him. I'd have him seen by a vet today for a health check. I hope this helps!
