My cat's eye infections won't go away, and he's acting strange. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 2 years and 3 months old | 5 lbs

I feel like I’m at a loss right now:( my cat’s had multiple eye infections and I keep taking him back to the vet (multiple vets ) and they all refill his prescription and say it will take time. We have refilled his drops and cream four times, it’s been going on for almost 2-3 months now and some days he doesn’t eat normally and hisses and growls at myself and my other cat and puppy. Since taking him to the vet for an eye infection hasnt worked I’m trying to see if something else may be wrong.

Could you please post again with some photos of the eyes? It is very difficult to give you advice without seeing him. We also need to know what medications you have already tried. Is there pus coming from the eyes or are they just watery and red? Is he indoors only or does he go outside? Any other symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, etc)? I'm sorry there is just not enough information in your post for us to be helpful. You are welcome to post again with photos and more information or you can opt for a private consult with one of us (veterinarians). If you do a private consultation we can chat back and forth and you can ask as many questions as you'd like.
