My Maltese is constipated, in pain, trembling. Can I give her yogurt?

6 years old female Maltese has constipation and can't poop it out. She's in pain and trembling. Her behind smells a bit too. Should I give her yoghurt or something? Stay safe and healthy.

Poor Bella! If she can't poop it out, and is in pain and trembling, you need to take her into a vet immediately. She sounds sick, and I don't want her left in pain. Please take her into a vet now. I hope you stay safe and healthy too!

Unfortunately nothing, many human pain relievers are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I see Bella is unspayed, and I would be concerned that her symptoms are caused by a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. It could also be she has a severe GI illness, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, foreign body, pancreatitis, or she has eaten something rotten causing her symptoms. I think she needs to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

Sounds like Bella is having some GI trouble. If she is still eating and drinking, you can feed her a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice to help with the diarrhea. If not, she should be seen by her veterinarian if she is very uncomfortable and having loose stool. It can be caused by interstitial inflammation, GI parasites, pancreatitis, etc. Your veterinarian will help guide you through the appropriate tests to help diagnose and treat Bella's signs. My Shih tzu is constipated horribly. She has been trying to poop for hours and there is a piece that is stuck halfway in and half way out but will not budge. What do I do? She has lost all of her energy!
I would recommend taking Bella to veterinarian. They may be able to remove the feces or she may need an enema to help pass the stool. Intestinal parasites can occasionally cause constipation or if she is on a milk replacer this is sometimes the culprit, and the veterinarian may recommend a fecal analysis or other tests. If you have already tried to gently remove the stool and are unable I don't think there is much else you can safely do at home.

Hello my dog has been shivering and trembling and whining the last past two nights she has regular bowel movements she's going pee but when it's time to go to bed she doesn't want to go upstairs and she acts like her back legs don't work.
It sounds like Bella may be in pain. If she doesn't want to go upstairs, I suspect she may have pain in her back, hips, or hind legs. Rest her tonight, and have her seen by a vet in the morning. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. If she is in pain, thee vet can prescribe her safe pain medication.

If she is yelling in pain I highly recommend bringing her to a veterinarian so they can provide pain medication. Most over the counter medications are toxic to dogs. She needs a veterinarian to help diagnose her and treat her. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

It sounds as Papito is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

My Maltese/ cavalier hasn't been eating properly the last couple of days and yelps everytime I touch her underside of her body, her eyes a goopy when she wakes up and she is occasionally shaking, as well as walking slow.
Poor Belle! It sounds like she is experiencing some pain and she could have a problem with her back or possibly abdominal pain. In order to diagnose, she needs to be examined by a vet to localize the source if the pain. She may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications to help treat the problem. You should restrict her activity until she is seen by a vet; no running, jumping, etc. Hope she feels better soon!

Hello I have a Maltese mixed with chihuahua and she is 1 year old She is having a hard time pooping and just started today I don't know how to make her regular again she can't walk and just stays in a position that she is going to poop. Please help!
I am sorry to hear about your pup! I would look at her rear end and check to be sure she doesn't have a matted area of hair/stool covering her anus and preventing her from pooping, as this can sometimes happen in long haired dogs. In mild cases of constipation, adding a teaspoon of canned pumpkin to their food to provide fiber can sometimes relieve constipation. If, however, she is lethargic, not eating, does not stop straining/cannot relax, or is vomiting then she needs veterinary care today. If she does have a fecal mat covering her anal area she will likely need to see the vet to have the area shaved and cleaned. Hello, and thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that Luna is unwell. It sounds like she is lethargic, and in some pain or discomfort. It is difficult to pinpoint a diagnosis based on these symptoms alone, but some possibilities include pain from an injury, or abdominal pain such as pancreatitis or a gastrointestinal foreign body. I would definitely recommend getting her seen by a vet within the next 24 hours. They can perform a full physical exam to pinpoint any areas of pain, and may recommend blood work or x-rays to help reach a diagnosis. At minimum, they can offer medication for pain, and constipation if present. In the meantime, I would try offering Luna small, frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and plain white rice. Also monitor for any vomiting or diarrhea, or any particular areas on her body that seem painful when touched. These will be important pieces of information to provide to the vet when you see them. My 6 month old Yorkie puppy was shaking and very lethargic. Her limbs seem stiff and that she can't walk right or drunk in a way. She is not even raising her head when we call her name. What could be wrong with her?
These are certainly scary and concerning symptoms. I'm sure you are very worried about Bella as am I. I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs.
