My elderly dog is drooling, tired, cloudy eye, eating grass, won't eat.

my dog is salivating a lot, cloudy eye, tired, and is eating grass frequently, but will not eat his food. I am not sure what is wrong and i'm worried. He is also elderly.

Shepphard could be nauseous or have a dental problem causing the excessive salivation, and eating grass can also indicate nausea. The cloudy eye could be due to cataracts. It's very conquering that he won't eat his food. I'd have him seen by a vet now to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Nausea can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Drooling is often a sign of nausea. It sounds as Nica is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti nausea injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

It sounds like there are a couple of things going on with Scout at the moment. The drooling and blood from his mouth suggests a dental problem, which can be common in older dogs. It would also cause him to not eat as much, and he would eat the softened food because it won't hurt his teeth as much. As for the thick mucus from his eyes, that can be a sign of an eye infection. Finally the panting can be a sign of being hot or something more serious such as heart disease. It's very concerning to me that you think there is blood in his drool and his eating has decreased. You need to take him into the vet first thing in the morning, this is not something that can be treated at home or should be left untreated. The vet can treat his myriad of problems. It sounds like to me that Charlie may have severe dental problems causing this excessive drooling and not wanting to eat. He could also have a GI illness causing his symptoms. I would take Charlie into a vet first thing in the morning for an exam.

Drooling can be a sign of nausea, which may be why she hasn't eaten as much today. I would keep an eye on her for now, as she may have just eaten something that has upset her stomach. Given that she isn't vomiting or having diarrhea, it's ok to monitor her. If she is still lethargic and not eating as much tomorrow, or develops vomiting or diarrhea, then I would take her into the vet for an exam.

I have an twelve year old ridgeback that is not eating( 1st day) not acting like himself. He is making a sound like he is congested and has a drooling discharge from his mouth.
Oh that's not good that Toby isn't eating or acting like himself. He could be nauseous, eating something rotten, or could have dental problems causing the drooling and anorexia among other causes. The congestion could be caused by a respiratory disease, cardiac disease, or even cancer if it's spread to his lungs. I would monitor him tonight. Should he still not be eating in the morning, and is still drooling and sounding congested, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.

Unfortunately, her symptoms are very vague - they don't point to one specific illness or disease process. It sounds like her abdomen/stomach hurts. I suggest you take her to the vet for an exam. She is pacing from pain - I'm sure you don't want her to continue to be in pain. At her age I would be worried and it is best to catch this problem early.

My dog started to bite at the air, then starts to pace, excessive drooling, warm, dry nose, licking everything, pulling at his hair, vomiting and eating grass when I just left him out.
It sounds like your dog is very nauseous. It may just be a tummy upset such as gastritis, you can try starving him for 12 hours then feeding chicken and rice. However, if the vomitong persists I would head to the vet in case it is due to a more serious cause.

Hello, sorry to hear about Karl. It sounds like he may have increased thirst and is looking for more water (licking the air, eating snow, not eating but drinking). This could be associated with a form of kidney disease. Alternatively, the air licking and excessive drooling could be an indication that something is abnormal within his mouth (tooth root abscess, salivary gland abscess, or even a mouth mass). This can usually cause dogs to not want to eat, or they may prefer to eat softer foods, but still be able to drink. You may look in his mouth and see if you note anything obvious, but ultimately, he may need be thoroughly evaluated by a veterinarian to look for any diseases within his mouth or his kidneys. Another reason for dogs to not want to eat and cause them to eat grass could include any GI disease such as a dietary indiscretion. This however tends to also carry signs of vomiting and/or diarrhea. If Karl is not getting better, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian

Excessive drooling can be a sign of nausea, eating something toxic or bitter, tooth problem (such as infection), or a salivary duct blockage, among other things. If the excessive drooling continues, Scoopy should be seen by a vet to determine what's causing the drooling. However, if it has already resolved then you can simply monitor Scoopy for any further symptoms.
