My pug's eye has slimy discharge that won't clear up. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 34 lbs

Something is wrong with my pug's left eye. It keeps producing some slimy mucous i think, doesn't clear up on its own like the right eye. It keeps accumulating until i have to clean it. I usually put some normal eye drops and the mucus almost clears away but reappears within few hours again. Its been like this for months now. Refuses to clear up. Even tried some antibiotic drops. They dont work either. Same thing. Please suggest a treatment.

Poor guy. It looks like your poor pup has dry eye. Visit your vet and have them check his tear production. Until you can get Oscar seen, it is best to use over the counter artificial tears in the eyes to help keep them moisturized until stronger medication can be prescribed by your vet. I do hope that Oscar's eyes improve soon! Best of luck moving forward. Take care.
