Is coconut meat or husk good for my dog's teeth and health?

I heard coconut meat and the husk is great for health and it cleans the teeth. What do you think?

No, it doesn't. I would get a toothbrush and paste for Rocky Road. Make sure it's a dog toothpaste and brush. I recommend the CET brand of pet dental products. You can find them online or in a pet store. I hope this helps!

Can I use peroxide to clean my dogs teeth?
It's excellent that you are trying to brush Rocky's teeth. However, I wouldn't recommend using hydrogen peroxide to clean Rocky's teeth as it will likely make him resistant to brushing due to its bad taste. If too much peroxide is swallowed it can also cause vomiting. There are good options for dog toothpaste available. Virbac CET is a good option and comes in flavors that dogs tend to like. Even just water on a toothbrush had been shown to be helpful. I hope this is helpful and good luck brushing!

Can I use coconut oil and baking soda to brush my dog's teeth?
I wouldn’t recommend using this combination to brush your dog’s teeth. While the coconut oil probably tastes good, it will just add unwanted calories to your dog’s diet, even if you are using a small amount. And the baking soda will be too harsh and abrasive for your dog. Instead I would recommend a toothpaste specifically made for dog’s. Or, you don’t even have to use toothpaste at all! The most important part of brushing a dog’s teeth is the mechanical action of brushing away the plaque that builds up on the teeth! If you do this daily it will go a long way to helping your dog’s teeth stay nice and healthy. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. Best of luck!

Hi, i have a dog of four years old. I've never brushed my dog' s teeth, only wash his teeth with oxygenated water occasionally, and i want to know why he has a bit of tartar on his teeth now. Also if coconut oil helps his oral health.
It is not uncommon for tartar to buildup on dog's teeth as they age. Some dogs, particularly little dogs, seem to be more prone to this than others. Unfortunately coconut oil has no benefit for this issue. I would recommend picking up a dog toothpaste and toothbrush or dental chews such as CET chews that have been proven to be effective at decreasing tartar formation from your vet's office.

I am getting my Siberian Husky, Shumba ready for a. dog show and I need to know how to brush his teeth?
Home dental care is one of the best ways to help keep your dog's teeth and gums healthy. I would wet the toothbrush (you can get it at a pet store). You can also use a children's toothbrush. I would then use Pet approved toothpaste. There are wide varieties of flavors. Never use human toothpaste, baking soda or salt. While safe for you, these cleaning agents can be harmful to your dog if swallowed. Lift your dog's lip and brush with a gentle motion to clean his teeth. Just like you would your own teeth. Most pets will not allow you to brush the inside surface of their teeth, so typically you can just brush the outside portion of their teeth. Make sure you reward your dog after! Hi there! I'm so thrilled to hear you're interested in helping Rocky with good dental hygiene! I encourage my clients to use products like Oravet dental hygiene chews or Virbac CET Veggie Sticks. Products like Clenzadent are also available as a sort of mouth rise to help with your pet's bad breath. The best thing, of course is a full dental under anesthesia to get the teeth free of excess calculus, but I understand this is more invasive than chews. Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. It's great that you're thinking about Teddy's oral health! It is best to brush Teddy's teeth daily using a toothpaste formulated for dogs. There are lots of good options, so try a few out and see what flavors Teddy likes, but I recommend an enzymatic toothpaste. Is it true a tablespoon of coconut oil is good for dogs bad breath. I have two Chihuahuas whose breath is terrible. I give them dental bones daily.
No, coconut oil will not help with your dogs' breath. Coconut oil has no proven medical benefits in dogs and can cause pancreatitis in some dogs. Instead, I recommend brushing their teeth with a small kid-sized toothbrush, using first water to brush the outer surfaces of their teeth, followed by a smear of dog toothpaste. Brushing daily is the most effective way to prevent dental disease and improve breath. If Enzo and his buddy's teeth have a significant amount of tartar accumulation causing the breath issues, they may need to have dental cleanings performed by their vet to first get the tartar under control. Dental bones can absolutely help further tartar accumulation, but brushing is the most effective method of dental home care.

Which home remedy can i use to brush stela's teeths?
The most important part of a home dental care program is actually just brushing the teeth at all and does not seem to make a difference which toothpaste is used unless you use a proven toothpaste. There are actually only 2 toothpastes on the market that have been proven to help improve dental health in dogs. I am attaching a list of approved dental products below. http://www.vohc.org/VOHCAcceptedProductsTable_Dogs.pdf So, I would recommend purchasing PetSmile or Essential Healthy Mouth if you are going to use a toothpaste. I have found that homemade toothpastes are not very good tasting (so it makes it harder for you to brush the teeth) and would recommend using a good brush without any toothpaste instead of making a homemade toothpaste. These are good treats for your dog, but they won't clean his teeth well. You can use dental specific treats for him to clean his teeth, and I also recommend brushing his teeth. You will need to use a dog specific toothpaste, as human toothpastes are not safe for dogs. You can get the toothpaste and a toothbrush for him from a pet store. Just like in humans, dogs need regular dental care as well, and I would have him seen by the vet for a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing.

How many times a year or month should my dog get his teeth cleaned at the groomers? And is it bad to give my dog rawhide treats?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I recommend daily teeth brushing with dog toothpaste daily. Groomers only brush a dogs teeth when they are groomed- likely every 6-8 weeks. That would be like us brushing our teeth once every 6-8 weeks. It’s not a bad idea but it’s not going to do a whole lot in the long run. I also recommend a professional teeth cleaning by a veterinarian every year- to remove plaque, polish after (very important after plaque removal), and to check for problems/bad teeth before they cause other problems. Rawhides are not bad but they will not take the place of daily dental care. Also, they can cause intestinal upset so I do not recommend them frequently. They also have a lot of calories so you have to make sure Scooby doesn’t gain weight when feeding them. Kisses to Scooby!
