My kitten has an infected wound. How to clean it and manage until vet?

How do I keep this kittens wound clean? This kitten has an infected wound in and on his butt as the result of a previous owners misguided attempt at helping to remove feces. I am currently putting antiseptic wash and clearing away all visible fecal matter several times a day. No vets are available until at least 4/20/20. What else can i do to slow the spread of the infection? What can i do for pain management?

Continue to clean the area. You can use a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. Dry thoroughly afterwards. Keep the back end as clean and dry as possible. There is nothing OTC that you can safely given for pain. Ideally, the kitten should be seen at the nearest veterinary ER for an exam and treatment. Antibiotics may be indicated. Given current events, you may need to drop Little Man off then wait for a vet to call you to discuss exam findings and treatment options.
