My puppy's spay incision has a spot. Is this normal healing process?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 3 months and 23 days old | 9.06 lbs

Hi there, my puppy got spayed on March 11th of this year and has been healing nicely other than this one spot. She has been to the vet since having it for vaccinations, but they didn’t say much about her incision. I just want to be sure she’s okay.

The little spot is most likely a piece of suture material that was used to close the abdomen or the skin. It should fell out by itself (typically suture materials dissolve within 4-6 weeks post surgery). Most likely it will not be a big problem for Elara but it may take another few weeks to disappear. The rest of the wound healed very nicely.
