I'm constantly worried about my puppy. When should I be concerned?

I am sorry for the way i responded to you answer. She is spayed now. We had it done when we took the puppy to the vet. I apologize by the way i reacted I'm just very concerned about this puppy. This last time we did take him to a different vet than the first time because we felt the same way you have described. Im just worried. But thank you for your input.

No, I wouldn't be scared or nervous! While any surgery has it's risks, it is a routine surgery that vets do every day. It will be much better for her health in the long run, including eliminating the risk of Jade developing a pyometra. This is a life threatening infection of the uterus that is too often fatal. Jade is a young dog, and this surgery is must less complicated in young, healthy dogs. You are doing the right thing by having her spayed, and you can certainly let the vet know you are scared and nervous about it, but Jade should be just fine :-)

My dog recently was spayed. Her pills (carprofen 50mg and acepromezine 25mg) are supposed to be taken every 12 hours and I accidentally gave them to her 5 hours early (I have major pregnancy brain). Will she be okay?
Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Penny. I totally understand having major pregnancy brain, it can make you so foggy sometimes! My baby is seven months old now, it does get better. Anyway, yes Penny will be ok. Just give her next dose 12 hours after this dose. I hope this helps!

You are very welcome! An apneic dog would make anyone panic! Even us! His mix doesn't commonly have over long soft palates, usually more bully breeds and those with smooshed faces. It is not wrong to even have him looked at today before the weekend. I wish you both the best!

Precious is suppose to get spayed next week & im literally already having an anxiety attack. I dont want abything to happen to her. I know it will prevent pyometra but what about what it can cause? I know she wont gain weight because shes very active
Hello. I can understand your anxiety, & there are some studies to suggest that some breeds are better off being neutered after a year or so of age, but for the most part, there is no danger & there is no greater likelihood of advanced disease in these animals. I always remind people that many women need to have hysterectomies for various medical reasons, & while the vast majority of these surgeries happen after puberty, there is no known significant increase in cancer, Alzheimer's, endocrine disease, etc. in these women. You will be hard-pressed to find any veterinarian who has been in practice longer than 20 years who will say there has been an uptick in medical problems in neutered animals. Pets are living longer & healthier lives because of this, & while we are still not making a huge dent in the pet overpopulation program & the number of puppies & kittens euthanized each year, we are trying. My puppy just got spayed a few hours ago. She’s been home for almost 2 hours and she is acting very scared and she won’t even look at me she is normally very loving. She is also moaning a lot and is shivering. I have pain medication but the vet said
Hello. It can take up to 24 hours for all the sedation to work through her system, so she is very likely still a bit under the influence. I would like for you to look at her gums, the tissue just above her canine teeth, to see if she looks nice & pink. If her color is pale, greyish or bluish, get her back to your vet immediately. You can certainly lay with her, & if she is just on a cold floor, I would try to get her on something warmer. The pain medication is just indicated for once a day, so you can not give her any more just yet, nor can you give any aspirin, Tylenol or Alleve. Your veterinarian may have something else on hand if it looks like she needs more, but most patients are feeling much, much better by the next day. Keep her warm & in a quiet place, & she should do just fine. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Spay on Thurs. Acting and eating normal until today. Vomiting but acting mostly normal. Had rabies vaccination at the same time. She is about 3 months old.
Depending on how many times your puppy has vomited, it may or may not be a cause for concern. Just like people, dogs can occasionally have some gastrointestinal upset that may be transient and pass. The Rabies vaccination is not likely to be the cause of this as typically these reactions are seen shortly after the administration of the shot. If your pup is experiencing a post-operative infection from the spay procedure, vomiting could potentially be seen depending on the severity of the infection. I would expect other clinical signs to accompany this as well though, including lethargy and a fever, as well as redness near the incision site. If you aren't seeing any of this, my suspicious is that your puppy may just be having some indigestion. Consider fasting him for the next 12-24 hours then feeding a bland diet for the next 3-5 days. As long as things continue in the right direction from this point forward, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over things. If the vomiting you are se

HI my dog Bubbles I believe is sick or she might be I really don't know. Symptoms- Vomiting Watery eyes Weakness Refuses to interact with us (This is the first time she's ever been sick) Please answer should I be worried?? Is it something serious?
I would be very concerned about Bubbles, and take her into a vet immediately. I see that she isn't spayed, which means she can develop a life threatening infection of the uterus called a pyometra. A pyometra is fatal without treatment, and it causes vomiting, weakness, and lethargy, all signs she is showing. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain if she has one or not, but because of the seriousness of a pyometra I would take her into vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Poor pup! It sounds like she may be in pain still or having a hard time recovering from her surgery. I would let your vet know right away so they can either provide a different medication, or have her seen to make sure there isn't an infection or other complication that needs to be addressed.

Breathing at an erratic rate while asleep may simply be an indication of active dreaming. As long as her breathing does not appear labored and as long as she is not having any other indications of illness, I would not worry too much about her health. Continue to monitor for any significant changes to her health, monitor her surgical site for any signs of infection or discharge (serous / clear discharge in small amounts is normal), and keep a close eye on her energy level. If all of these seem to check out, I don't think you have anything to be concerned about at this time.
