My dog might be pregnant and has yellow discharge. Is it normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 3 months old | 17.7 lbs

My yorkiepoo or Yorkshire terrier/poodle may be pregnant. We are not sure, but if she is she is 42 days pregnant. She started producing light yellow discharge heavily, and we don’t know if this is a sign of pregnancy or something else.

I'm concerned that Coco is having this heavy discharge and this may not be normal. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I'd have her seen by a vet now for this to make sure everything is ok.

A slight mainly clear discharge from the vagina can be normal but yellow/creamy discharge is usually a sign of a uterine infection which is a very serious condition in female dogs. i strongly recommend taking her to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.

I'm concerned about this color discharge. This can be a sign of premature separation of the placenta. Without seeing Coco in person, I cannot say if this is ok or not. I'd take her into a vet immediately.

A pregnant dog will develop a mucus plug over her cervix, which keeps bacteria out of the uterus, protecting the fetuses. This plug is a whitish fluid resembling egg whites and should have no odor. In some dogs, the mucus plug causes a discharge throughout the pregnancy. Even though you described a perfumish odor I suspect this is what you are seeing. I don't know if your vet did this or not but I would suggest they take some of the discharge and look at it under the microscope. If there is a lot of white blood cells or bacteria that would be cause for concern. If your vets are not reproductive experts they can always call and consult with one. My pregant dog has yellow discharge with odor and she starts shivering and eats less.
This is not normal, and Asuna has to see a vet immediately. This discharge can be a sign of a complication in her pregnancy, and she needs veterinary attention right away. Please take her into an ER vet; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Leaving this without veterinary treatment can be fatal to both her and her puppies. I hope this helps!

It could be normal as long as it has no smell to it, there's no blood in it, and it isn't green or brown. Without seeing Eva in person, I can't say for certain. Have her seen by a vet for it to be safe.

I am sorry for the delay in answering your question. As dogs come into heat, initially a bloody discharge is seen. Then usually about 1-2 weeks later that discharge becomes more yellow in color, and that is when they are receptive to a male dog. They tend to accept the male for 1-2 weeks, and a yellowish discharge can be normal, though it should not be in very large amounts. So I don't think what you are describing is completely abnormal, especially if she is eating, isn't lethargic or acting sick. This discharge may be normal, but it could also indicate infection. Ideally, Cocoa should be physically examined by your veterinarian to confirm all is well and the pups are doing fine. Monitor her for lethargy, fever, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, excessive discharge or active bleeding.

Yellowish puss filled legion near my pregnant dogs vaginas and on inside of her hind leg!!!
This is probably pyoderma, which is a skin infection, it can sometimes be more common in pregnant dogs. if it seems to be getting worse over time you should take her to the vet in order to get an antibiotic course which will probably resolve the issue.

I would be concerned that this white mucus discharge could be a sign of a pyometra, which is an infection of the uterus. I would have her checked out by a vet today. The vet is the only one who can confirm if she is pregnant or not, and can determine if this discharge is due to a pyometra. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Any vaginal discharge in a pregnant cat other than a transparent discharge is not normal. If you notice a vaginal discharge you need to visit the vet, as this may indicate that the cat has a problem which can result in an abortion. She could also have a urinary tract infection. But in any case, she should be seen by a veterinarian.
