Why is my old Yorkie having accidents, wobbling, and falling?

I have a 11 year old Yorkie. She has been having accidents in the house the last few days and has been very wobbly on her feet and she’s been falling down on and off

Bailey is an older girl, and these behaviors are signs of being sick. She could have kidney disease, diabetes, a pyometra (an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment), or even cancer causing her symptoms. She needs to see a vet now for them, please take her into one immediately. I recommended having a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, and urinalysis done. I hope this helps!

These are certainly scary and concerning symptoms. I'm sure you are very worried about Bella as am I. I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs. My 11 year old grand dog has started frequent accidents in the house without alerting us. She is a yorkie but will literally pee or poop right next to you. She used to alert you or just sit by the door to go out. This is becoming a major issue. W
The first thing to do is have her checked by the veterinarian. It's possible there is an infection or other abnormality that is causing the behavior. Sometimes there is a neurological problem and the pet is not aware of what is happening. Dementia can also cause these symptoms. Some conditions have treatment with medications. Since Khloe can't talk and tell you what is happening, it's best to play it safe. I hope this helps.

I would recommend that Blaiser be examined by a vet. The symptoms you have mentioned could certainly be behavioral (sudden accidents in the house, only eating when you are near), but the wobbly appearance could indicate an internal medical illness, cancer, or neurologic disease. After a thorough physical exam, the vet may perform a neurologic exam to pick up on any subtle neurologic deficiencies. The vet may also recommend bloodwork to look for anemia, infection, liver or kidney disease, or electrolyte imbalances, all of which could cause symptoms such as you have described.

Old age is not a disease, so the symptoms Taboo is showing are indications of medical problems. The urine leakage and smell could be due to a UTI, bladder stones, or spay incontinence. The signs of being in pain could be due to arthritis. The balance issues and disorientation could be due to an ear infection or something more serious such as a brain tumor. She needs to see a vet as soon as possible for her myriad of problems. The vet can diagnose what is causing them, and can discuss treatment options with you. Please take her into a vet tomorrow. All these signs are worrying, it could be due to a condition called "vestibular disease" which is common in older dogs, I would definitely recommend taking her to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked.

It sounds like Wiley needs to see the veterinarian quickly. It's impossible to know without a physical exam and likely some bloodwork but these symptoms could describe low blood sugar (which can be fatal), hepatic encephalopathy or exposure to a toxin. Other causes are also possible but it's best to play it safe. I recommend to have Wiley examined right away. I hope everything turns out ok and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Oh dear! I'm sorry to hear that your pup is having this problem. I'm afraid this sounds quite serious - it's impossible to say what might be causing these symptoms without being able to examine her and run some tests, but some possible causes could include a neurologic disease like meningitis, a serious systemic infection of some kind, or ingestion of something toxic. This may be a life-threatening problem, so I would recommend taking her to an emergency vet immediately. The vet can do a complete neurologic exam as well as blood work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

You need to get Bella to a vet as soon as possible. I do not know why she is showing these symptoms as they are not specific for any one illness or disease process. This sounds very serious. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bailey. I would recommend that he sees his veterinarian. It sounds like he has a metabolic problem that is causing him to drink more, urinate more frequently (hence the accidents in the house) and lose weight. He could have diabetes. It best to have a diagnosis before he starts acting ill as it will be less complicated (and less expensive) to treat. I hope this information helps!

Poor Zoe! I would be very concerned that she has a serious medical problem causing her symptoms such as heart disease, which is common in senior dogs. Heart disease leads to exercise intolerance, and it would cause her to become weak during normal activity and fall over. These symptoms are certainly not normal, and she needs a visit to the vet as soon as possible for a physical exam, routine blood tests, urinalysis, and chest x-rays. Once the cause of her symptoms are found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. Heart disease cannot be cured, but it can be medically managed. I would get her into a vet tomorrow or first thing Monday. Good luck, I hope this helps!
