My spayed dog has a lump near her spine and swollen glands. Is it serious?

My female spayed dog has a boney mass just off her spine I’ve also found swollen glands I her chest and behind her ear she’s eating drinking and peeing and pooping as normal and doesn’t seem unwell

I'm concerned this mass could be cancerous and the swollen glands could be in response to that. You need to have Roxie seen by a vet for this first thing in the morning to get this checked out. Best of luck.

Wow, poor Roxy is quite swollen! It could be her lymph nodes that are swollen, and this could be caused by a severe infection or lymphoma. She has to see a vet as soon as possible for this, especially because it is getting more swollen. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on the swellings if it is her lymph nodes. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lymph nodes to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once a diagnosis is made, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. Please bring her into a vet as soon as possible.

This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Roxy to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

This is probably the mammary gland and the fat underneath, especially if she is completely fine and there are no other signs. Enlarged lymph nodes (inguinal) may be a possible differential as well. Unfortunately in this case a physical examination would be essential to determine more precisely the underlying cause. I would recommend a vet check up.

Hi there! Unfortunately, yes - from your description, I would be very concerned that she may have a mammary tumor. This is a very common problem in middle-aged and older intact females. If it is a mammary tumor, there is about a 50% chance of it being malignant (cancerous), so I would definitely recommend having this checked by a veterinarian as soon as you can. He/she can discuss options for biopsy or surgical removal of the mass.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would recommend Roxy be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. If they are enlarged lymph nodes throughout her body, it could be due to a development of lymphoma, or an infectious disease, for example. An early diagnosis of either (or another underlying issue) would be very beneficial for treatment. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian, and any necessary testing done. Hi. This is a very big mass. If it is firm and painful, this is concerning in an unspayed, older pet is cancer unfortunately. Besides a cancer, other possibilities include infection, cyst, lipoma, a benign mammary tumor, hernia, etc. She should be fully checked out and have the mass sampled to get an answer. The sooner the better in this case.

Is the swelling on my dog's lower stomach an emergency? It's medium soft and does not cause her any pain when it's touched. She has not been spayed and is near her time to come into heat.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Giselle. If she is eating, drinking and acting normal, then it is likely not an emergency. However, she should have it evaluated by her veterinarian. She may have developed a mammary mass. This is more common in dogs that have not been spayed. Her veterinarian will perform an examination and then possibly collect a sample from the swelling to analyze. I hope this information helps!

My unspayed dog has developed three little blue hard lumps next to her nipple . They don’t seem to bother her.
She may have mammary cancer which is fairly common in unspayed dogs. Your vet can perform either a biopsy or a fine needle aspirate and cytology to confirm the nature of the mass. If it comes back as mammary cancer, full screening pre-operative bloodwork as well as chest radiographs to rule out metastasis to the lungs will likely be discussed. If chest rads show that cancer has already spread to her lungs, unfortunately surgical removal under anesthesia may not be practical. Good luck-

It looks like Roxy could have a mass and/or an infection. She needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. Your vet can do a needle aspirate and/or biopsy to help diagnose and then treat. It may need to be removed.
