My dog has been limping on his hind leg for two days. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 28 days old | 20 lbs

I heard a yelp outside 2 days ago, ran out and Kane was limping on his right hind leg walking towards the house. 2 days later, still limping but not swollen, checked for stickers, no stickers, put pressure by squeezing all around and he doesn't whimper. Still limping and I'm not sure what's wrong.

Poor Kane. He could have strained a ligament or muscle causing the limping. He's been in pain for two days now and unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give him. Many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I would take him into a vet now to get this limping diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Unfortunately no, there are no OTC pain medications you can give Kane. Many human ones are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. From your description, it does sound like he may be in a lot pain, and I'd recommend an immediate vet visit for him. Best of luck.
