My cat's ears bother her, look dirty inside. Is it an ear infection?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | 12 lbs

My cats ears have been bothering her for a bit now. Her ear looks clean but when I look into the base/ear canal its dirty and dark. She is very uncomfortable with me messing with or touching her ears. Shes been laying in her litterbox for about 3 days now(not sure if thats anything significant).

It's probably an ear infection, often it cannot be seen from the outside. Ear infections are very common in cats, it is usually caused by either yeast, ear mites or bacterial disease. the treatment is usually simple and straightforward, you will have to take her to the vet and get the ears checked, then a prescription ear drops will be prescribed according to the infectious agent.
