My dog has bloody diarrhea, mucus, and is lethargic. What should I do?

First time this happened. Utd on shots. Diarrhea with mucus and white specs and blood. 2 year old catahoula leopard female dog. I’m very worried about her. Anything I can do until I can get her to the vet Monday. On heartworm medicine sentinel spectrum. She ate rice and drank water after this bowel movement. Seems lethargic

Poor Ember. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. The fishy smell is likely to be due to her anal glands, but this is not the cause of her general state, the anal gland impaction is probably due to the diarrhea which seems to be the main problem. she might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she remains lethargic and the diarrhea does not resolve, take her to the vet to get treatment.
