Is my Doberman puppy's nose rash genetic or a skin infection?

There is a skin rash near the nasal canthus of my Doberman puppy. Is that a genetic concern? Atopic dermatitis perhaps? Will it go away? Thank you.

This may not be a genetic concern. Puppies have very sensitive skin and can be prone to skin infections. It will need to be treated by a vet, so I would take Milo into one this weekend,. I hope this helps!

If looks like he has a dermatitis which could be from a bacterial infection, fungal infection, or possibly mites. He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet may need to do a skin scrape, culture, or cytology to help determine the exact cause. Once diagnosed, the appropriate medication can be prescribed. I don’t think this problem is secondary to the heat. Good luck with your new puppy.

We have a2 month old puppy that developed a rash like on his nose. What is it? And how to treat it
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. This could also be something else like mange but an examination would be needed to determine that. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new c

5 month old German shepherd has had rash for a few days. Just want to know if I need to take her to vet
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It looks like a skin infection. This is common in puppies. I would wash the area with a mild soap and water then dry the area well. If the rash is still there 24 hours later I would take her to a vet for oral antibiotics. Good luck and kisses to your pup!

This could be a skin condition like skin infection or allergies. I would take Milo into the vet to get this checked out. The vet can diagnose what is causing it, and how best to treat it. Best of luck.

I just noticed this rash on my 10 week old puppy should I be concerned?

It could be the start of puppy pyoderma (a skin infection), or it could be due to fleas, mites, or allergies. Having her seen by a vet will prevent it from getting worse and allow it to be treated. This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat her with a high quality flea treatment (e.g. advocate or advantage), then get her to the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). simultaneously you should start her on a prescription hypoallergenic diet for at least 2 months. Hopefully you will see some results after all this, if not you and your vet should consider putting her on a long term allergy treatment (Atopica or Apoquel).

What is this on my puppy’s lip. Is it bad ?
This is a skin fold dermatitis (inflammation) likely to be caused by an infection. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any). My doberman puppy 2 month old has some skin disease and bad odour.. how can i resolve this
First, you would need to have the underlying condition diagnosed. This could be a bacterial, fungal or parasite (fleas or mites) infection. A physical exam with your veterinarian is required to make the diagnosis. Once you have this information, the appropriate treatment can be administered. Any treatment will depend on the diagnosis but may include systemic and/or topical treatments. In the meantime, use an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing and make sure Rex is on a monthly flea preventive to rule out fleas.
