My Morkie yelps when I touch her side near her ribs. Is she in pain?

Pet's info: Dog | Morkie | Female | spayed | 8 years and 6 months old | 9.5 lbs

My 8 year old Morky yelps when we Very lightly touch her right or left Underside. It appears to be tender past the last rib, but not as far back as her legs. She is eating, drinking and acting normal as long as we don’t touch that spot.

It sounds like Annie has some pain in that area. She may have injured herself. Given that she is otherwise acting normally, I'd watch her over the weekend. Avoid touching the spot, and avoid picking her up unless necessary. Then on Monday, feel the area again. If she is still painful, then I would take her into the vet. I hope this helps!

Poor Belle! It sounds like she is experiencing some pain and she could have a problem with her back or possibly abdominal pain. In order to diagnose, she needs to be examined by a vet to localize the source if the pain. She may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications to help treat the problem. You should restrict her activity until she is seen by a vet; no running, jumping, etc. Hope she feels better soon!

My dog yelps when you touch her tummy , she eats and drink normal but she is not acting normal like like couple days ago! No vomiting or diarrhea! Need help I am worried abymy best friend!
Something could be painful there or on her back causing Holly to yelp. Since she is otherwise acting normally, keep an eye on her for now and if this behavior continues, have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.

Hi, it can certainly be a pulled muscle and that the pain is elicited when you put pressure on that specific area. If he has eaten and passed normal feaces fine, I would recommend to let him a have a quiet week-end and monitor how symptoms until Monday. If he still seems to be yelping, even if left often, have him checked over. Obviously, if you are worried in the meantime have him checked over sooner. However, with pulled muscles, normally rest does the trick.

My dog was picked up under armpits area about 2hrs ago and she yelped. She has been yelping within that area ever since then and even when you try to move her. What is wrong with my baby? She is 2yrs old
It could be a muscular injury or sprain. I would leave the area alone and monitor for the next few hours, if she seems to be in discomfort best to have her checked over so can get some pain relief . If she is already in quite a bit of pain best to have her checked over sooner rather than later.

Molly has been yelping for about a week every time I touch her in her shoulder area,she seemed better yesterday but now she is yelping again,what can I give her for the pain ,she weighs about 7 to 8 lbs.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I am sorry to hear Molly isn't feeling well. Unfortunately we are unable to give advice for medication without seeing Molly. I would contact your veterinarian to see if they can give you more assistance. I recommend making an appointment for her so they can find the source of her pain and get her the correct treatment. They may need to take x-rays to rule out a fracture. In the meantime, I would rest her in a kennel so she doesn't continue to injure herself. You could also try a warm compress on the area, but since it has been going on for so long, I would take her to a vet. Good luck and kisses to Molly!

My pet looks depressed and yelps when I touch the back part of her body. I tried giving her feeding her but she doesn't move. She just stays standing.
I recommend that you take your pet to your local veterinarian for an examination and blood work. There are numerous reasons an animal may have pain in the lower part of her body, including kidney infection/stones, degenerative disc disease, spains/strains, osteoarthritis, or trauma, etc. Often, lack of eating is a sign of pain or distress. Once your pet's source of pain/discomfort is diagnosed and treated, you pet will be more likely to eat again.

If she seems to be in pain than she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. She could have a musculoskeletal issue, abdominal pain, infection, etc. Your vet can localize the pain, run labwork, and take X-rays, if needed, to diagnose the problem. Once a cause is identified, your vet can determine the best way to treat. She may need an anti-inflammatory and/or pain medications to help. Hope she feels better soon.

My Yorkie (4lb) is crying and trying to bite me if I touch his chest area while picking him up, he’s moving slower than normal but still climbing up on the back of the couch to look out the window. Should I take him to the vet or wait a couple days?
Ideally, I would take him on in. If he is painful enough that he's trying to bite you, getting him in sooner rather than later will get him some relief. If he is still eating and drinking, and he's able to walk comfortably, its reasonable to wait a few days and see if it gets better, and I understand holding off it that makes more sense in your situation, but if its not a financial strain or logistically really difficult, I would go ahead a take him in rather than waiting. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that Sophie has been seeming uncomfortable when being picked up a certain way, and is eating and drinking less. While more common in larger breed dogs, it is possible that she has some "growing pains", or panosteitis, in her long bones, which is painful for her when she is picked up as you are describing. This discomfort may be causing her to eat and drink less, and be less playful too. I'm glad to hear that she is not painful in her chest, abdomen or back. She may be suffering from neck pain, which can be a common occurrence in smaller breed dogs. If she continues to seem uncomfortable, lethargic, and have a decreased appetite and water intake, I recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian. He/she can perform a thorough physical exam to better localize her discomfort and pain. He/she may also recommend bloodwork to evaluate for any underlying systemic disease that could cause her to have a decreased appet
