My puppy passed roundworms after Tri Heart Plus. Is it normal?

I have an older dog with heartworms and I gave my puppy Tri heart plus and I noticed round worms in his poop after 24hrs is this normal and should I give him something else to treat it?

Tri heart plus kills roundworms, so it sounds like the medication is working. You do not need to give Thor anything else at the moment. Given him another dose of deworming medication in two weeks to kill all the worms.

Depending on the stage of infection, it can take several days for all of the adult worms to die and be passed in the feces. It is normal to see different types of worms in the feces, as this product kills several types of worms, which are very common in puppies. If you notice that your puppy is continuing to have diarrhea after several days, I recommend bringing a stool sample from Blaze to your vet to determine which parasites are present. Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Trixxi is very cute! Sounds like the dewormer is working properly. Sometimes dead worms pass and sometimes they get digested on the way out. It depends on where they are in the intestinal tract when they are killed by the dewormer. Yes, you are correct. Puppies need to be dewormed every 3 weeks at least 3-4 times depending on what age you start the dewormer and if they are taking heartworm prevention that has a dewormer in it. Most heartworm medicines have an intestinal dewormer in it, so once that is started, that can substitute for your puppy dewormings. I would advise that you get her seen by your veterinarian so her puppy vaccines stay updated and that she is monitored for good health. Also, your vet can discuss proper flea/tick and heartworm products. Good luck with Trixxi.

I gave my bulldog puppy (16 weeks old) her heart worm medicine last night, 24 hours later a white worm is hanging out of her butt. Is this normal? Should I take her into the vet?
Heartworm preventative medications also kill intestinal worms such as hookworms and roundworms, so it's not uncommon to see a puppy pass some worms in the stool after getting a dose of heartworm prevention. As long as Ginger is acting normal, this shouldn't be cause for concern. She will likely finish passing the worm the next time she has a bowel movement. You can take her outside for a potty break to see if she needs to go, or gently wipe her rear end with a warm washcloth to see if the worm will come out easily.

My 13mo old 10 lb. shorkie just ate 6 tablets of Tri-Heart Plus for dogs up to 25 lbs.I haven't been able to locate a vet that is open this time of n.
You did exactly the right thing by calling around to vets to ask for help right away. It's always best to check when you aren't sure, and are worried about your pet. The Triheart dose that we give dogs for heart worms has very small doses of the two medications that are in it. Ivermectin is one of the medications that is in the Tri heart. The dose is 68 micrograms. Veterinarians use this medication also to treat dogs with skin mites and use a dose over 100 times the dose in one heart worm preventive tablet. Therefore, even if she would have eaten two or three boxes of the Triheart she should be very safe and there is not any risk of an overdose of the ivermectin. The other medication is called pyrantel pamoate which is used for deworming of intestinal parasites. This medication has a very large safety margin also, and can be given at 10-20 times the normal dose without any risks of toxicity. Took my puppy to the vet today for a check up. They were unable to get a stool sample so they gave him a mediocre for worms just in case, he just pooped and had spaghetti looking things in his poop, is this normal?
Yes, this does happen after a deworming treatment. It sounds like Tex had roundworms, and you are seeing the dead ones coming out. It means the deworming treatment is working. He will need another treatment in two weeks after the first. He should then be dewormed every two weeks until he is three months only, then every month until he is six months old. Then he should be dewormed regularly, every three months.

My dog has round worm. I just gave him heart guard plus. Can or should I also give him a dose of Nemex 2?
Heartguard Plus also controls roundworms and hookworms, so there is no need to give the Nemex 2 now. However you should give your puppy Nemex in about two to three weeks in order to hit the worms that hatch from the eggs the Heartguard did not catch.

My dog tested positive for roundworm, and took his first dose of Interceptor Plus two days ago. Today, I found a long worm in his stool. Is that a good sign the worms are dying and leaving his body?
Yes, the Interceptor Plus will affect adult worms but not larvae that are migrating. Dewormers can cause a"purge" of dead or dying adult intestinal parasites. You should have Rocket dewormed again in 2-3 weeks. Contact your veterinarian for a broad spectrum dewormer to clear emerging adults. Nemex or Panacur can be dispensed by your vet based on your dog's weight.

I got a golden retriever puppy from a breeder last week and she threw up a live roundworm today. She’s 11 weeks old and this is the first worm I’ve noticed.Her paperwork says she was given a worming treatment by the vet on 12/17/19. Is this common?
Because of the life cycle of worms, it takes at least two deworming treatments given two weeks apart to kill all of them. The first kills the adult present, while the second kills the worms that had not yet hatched from eggs at the time of the first treatment. You will need to give Marley another deworming treatment now, and another one in two weeks. After that, she should be given a deworming treatment once a month until she is six months of age. She should then be given a deworming treatment every three months thereafter. I hope this helps.

So I found this worm in my puppy's stool yesterday. We gave her her interceptor plus on Tuesday. Is it normal for them to pass the worms after the interceptor plus? This worm was still alive and should I be concerned or it it just the worm medicine
Yes, it's very common to see the worms after giving the deworm medication. This type of deworm medication works by inhibiting the nerves in the worm. While this usually does kill the worm, they may be somewhat alive still when they are passed in the stool. The fact that the worm came out indicates that it is at-least debilitated. If this was Millie's first deworm tablet, then it's best to give another one (like drontal plus) in two weeks to make sure you get all the worms. I hope that helps.

My 12 week old puppy had a worm come out when she was pooping that looked like a maggot. It was still moving after she pooped. She was treated at 8 weeks. Is this normal? Should I worry? And should I give her 12 week medication?
Worms can be common in young puppies, but it doesn't mean it's normal. She definitely needs another dose of the deworming medication, and I would give it to her now. Give her another dose in two weeks to kill all the worms, and then deworm her monthly until she is six months. After that, she should be dewormed every three months. I hope this helps!
