Why is my cat suddenly drinking more water and peeing more often?

My 20# part Maine coon male cat in the past week has been peeing twice as much and drinking twice as much water. He has never been outdoors or around other animals. His behavior hasn’t changed much, still eating same amounts. Only thing is, he sometimes is napping by an outside door. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 years and 7 months old | 20 lbs

Hi there. Common causes of increased water intake and urination in middle-aged or older cats would include diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and chronic kidney disease. I would recommend taking Willie to the vet for an exam when you are able to. Your veterinarian can do blood work and a urinalysis to help diagnose the problem and see what kind of treatment is needed.
