Why is my puppy throwing up food and eating it after vaccinations?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Wire Haired) | Female | unspayed | 2 months old | 2.3 lbs

I got my 8 week old puppy, Thursday, and we went to the vet Saturday and got her second round of vaccinations, the vet said she was healthy. Yesterday and Today however she has probably throw up a tiny bit of food probably a total of three or four times. She immediately eats it back up before I have time to stop her. I am worried about why she is throwing up though.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Amaya. She may have an upset stomach. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!
