Why is my puppy throwing up food and eating it after vaccinations?

I got my 8 week old puppy, Thursday, and we went to the vet Saturday and got her second round of vaccinations, the vet said she was healthy. Yesterday and Today however she has probably throw up a tiny bit of food probably a total of three or four times. She immediately eats it back up before I have time to stop her. I am worried about why she is throwing up though.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Amaya. She may have an upset stomach. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. If you are giving her a new food, then I'm wondering if that caused the vomiting today. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. i just took my dog to the vet yesterday and she had blood taken out for a test and got 2 shots.. she threw up twice today.. i just want to make sure its a side effect from visiting the vet
Coco may be stressed from the visit or having a mild reaction to the vaccinations. You can try to offer her a small meal of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice to see if this settles her stomach. However, if her vomiting persists or if any other signs of illness develop (like diarrhea, inappetance, or lethargy) I recommend having her examined by a veterinarian right away. Usually reactions to vaccines are mild, but in some cases they require medical treatment. Thanks for using Boop by Petco and I hope Coco is feeling better soon!

My dog is puking it started out of no where
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Chloe. Oh no, poor girl! She could have a stomach illness, may have eaten something rotten, has a foreign body, pancreatitis or parvo. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she vomits the bland diet, refuses to eat the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. All of these signs could simply be caused by the sudden change in food and the stress of a new home. I would wait 4 hours past the last episode of vomiting and feed her a little puppy food mixed with plain cooked white rice to help settle her stomach. Do this for a few days, slowly replacing more and more rice with puppy food. A little soft stool is OK as long as her attitude and appetite are great and it goes away within 3 days. Do not vaccinate her if there is any vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or lack of appetite. If she vomits profusely (more than 4 times in an hour or 6 times in a day), or if she is lethargic, has diarrhea that is severe, or refuses to eat for more than 12 hours, she needs to see a vet IMMEDIATLEY for a parvo test and proper treatment regardless of cause. These little guys can get seriously ill very quickly from dehydration and low blood sugar, so early and aggressive treatment is warranted if signs become severe. Best wish

My puppy started throwing up and shaking after I gave her firstshield trio singles dose. I gave her yogurt and bathed her. I don’t have access to a vet hospital right now. What can I do at home to help her?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If there is no further vomiting then she should be ok as this may be an isolated episode. However, if this continues, she should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. In the meantime, you may feed her a bland diet composed of boiled chicken breast and white rice which help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!

My 11-12 week puppy (Rhodesian Ridgeback) puked twice today. First time was bile and second was some undigested pieces of food with liquid. She has 1-2 puppy shots left i believe. Should i be worried?

Hi! I just got a Border Collie last night. He is 2 months old and I woke up to him throwing up. A few hours later I fed him again and shortly after, he threw up a few times. His poop seems normal and his throw up is just his food. What could it be?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. If he does not seem lethargic, I would withhold food for 6 hours and then initiate a bland diet as outlined below. If Bernie become lethargic, continues to vomit or develops diarrhea I would strongly recommend that you have a veterinarian examine him to help better determine what the cause could be. I would want to make sure he does not have a foreign body intestinal obstruction from something he ate, parvo virus, etc. Testing such as a parvo test and abdominal x-rays can help rule these out. He may just have a dietary indiscretion from something he ate or a new food / treat you gave him as well. I hope this helps! When l can feed my dog ,after vomiting? She has vomited for one time?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry to hear Jasy had a vomiting issue. For any GI upset, a bland diet (such as white rice and plain boiled white meat chicken) that is easily digestible is a good option. If chicken isn't an option for her, very lean ground beef browned in a skillet with no oil is another good option. If she continues vomiting, doesn't want to eat or otherwise starts acting ill, then I would recommend having her evaluated by her regular veterinarian. Good luck!

He might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 8 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 4-6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.
