My senior dog is throwing up water and won't eat. Is it serious?

my dog dolly has been throwing up water since yesterday morning . wont really eat she is 11

Throwing up water is very serious, as it can quickly lead to dehydration. I see that Dolly isn't spayed, and her vomiting and not eating can be due to a pyometra. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. I would have her seen by a vet immediately.

There are numerous reasons why he may be vomiting and not eating, but unfortunately it will require an exam and possibly other diagnostic tests in order to determine the diagnosis. If his issues have gone in for more than 24-48 hours, your veterinarian should look at him to see what may be going on. He may have a bacterial infection, viral infection, may have eaten something that is making him sick, may have kidney or liver issue or possibly a mass or tumor involving the GI tract. Since he vomits anything he is ingesting, it is really not possible to treat this at home. Dozer should see his veterinarian ASAP.

What do I do if my dog won't eat and throw up h2o
It sounds as Desiel is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Poor Justice. The information you posted is very concerning. I would recommend taking her to a vet as soon as possible to determine the cause of her vomiting. If she is an older dog and not spayed a pyometra (uterine infection) can cause vomiting and is a very serious illness. In younger dogs parasites, foreign body/obstruction and infection can cause vomiting. I hope she feels better soon

I'm sorry Ruby isn't feeling well! While this vomiting could be caused by a GI illness, I see she isn't spay. That makes me concerned she could be suffering from a pyometra, which is a life threatening infection of the uterus. A pyo would cause her to stop eating and vomit, and it is fatal without treatment. Because I can't see her in person to rule out a pyo, and taking into consideration the seriousness of a pyo, Ruby should see a vet immediately. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, and x-rays to diagnose what is causing her vomiting. If she does have a pyo, spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Tino needs to see a vet immediately, it's quite serious that he is vomiting water. He clearly can't keep it down and you are correct that he will dehydrate quickly from this. In a senior dog, dehydration can have serious consequences on their kidneys. He needs IV fluids to prevent dehydration, which can only be given by a vet. The vet can also diagnose the cause of the vomiting, which can include kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, GI illness, a foreign body, or cancer among others. The vet can give him a shot to stop the vomiting as well. Please take him into a vet right away.

My dog wont eat and throw ups water for 2 days now
Duke needs to be examined by the veterinarian. Vomiting for two days can quickly lead to dehydration. Just like humans, pets will vomit for many reasons and it is impossible to know without a physical exam, a thorough medical history and likely some diagnostics. Especially vomiting water means Duke is more at risk for dehydration. Bring in a stool sample for testing in case the doctor thinks this is necessary. My 9 yr old dog has a diminished appetite. Won’t eat her dog food. Will eat some ground meat and plain rice but only a small amount. She seems to be at the water bowl more frequently but within minutes vomits it back up.
There are many reasons why a pet may not eat as well or drink more water. I recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian today if possible. The doctor will likely recommend to run blood work to check her kidneys and liver. They may also want to check her urine for any signs of infection or diabetes.
