My dog is lethargic, vomiting bile, drooling, and has bloody poop.

Tarot has been acting lazier than usual for the past 3 days. She ate and drank water the first and second normally; but didn’t poop. Today, on the third day, she pooped when she woke up but it came out half firm, half runny and there was a little blood on it. I thought it was a step forward, but just a couple of minutes ago, she started excessively drooling and threw up what seemed like bile; it was yellow and foamy. I figured she was in heat, but I’m starting to get worried. Please advice?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Tarot. No, it does not sound like she is in heat, it sounds like she could have hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, parvo if she isn't fully vaccinated, a severe stomach illness, may have eaten something rotten or toxic, or could have a foreign body. Whenever a dog has vomiting as well as bloody poop, it's time to see a vet. I would take her into a vet today. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I noticed in one of those pictures that his stool is really diarrhea and is black (which usually means a sign of bleeding). Vomiting and diarrhea can occur secondary to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, parasites, among other possibilities. In addition, black stools can be indicative of bleeding into the small intestine or stomach which can happen secondary to an ulcer for instance. Bloody urine can be the result of an infection, stones, tumors, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start him on medications to make him feel better and check his hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would recommend Charlie be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. The tar like appearance to his stool is likely due to digested blood, indicating bleeding in the GI tract of some kind (a growth, an ulcer, secondary to toxin ingestion, etc.). I would have him seen, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork), and get started on treatment to resolve his issues (GI protectant, anti-nausea medication, anti-diarrheal, antacids, for example). Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Even though this could be due to her diet, the fact that she has been on it for over a month, makes it less likely. This can be due to conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Maggie evaluated by your veterinarian soon today or tomorrow for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and at the very least start her on medications which would be based on findings. Likely diagnostics include a fecal examination and abdominal imaging. Good luck and have a great day!

This episode may be dietary related and completely incidental. As a first line approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Shaking can be a sign of discomfort. I recommend that you have Poppy evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! The clinical signs you describe are concerning as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. However, other possibilities include are gastroenteritis due to other reasons, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Prince evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start him on medications to make him feel better. I am worried that he has been declining rapidly and needs veterinary treatment. Today doggy vomited with blood. Why? Is that because the hot weather in lebanon?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Blood in the vomit indicates most commonly stomach lining irritation or ulceration. The only way heat could cause this is if Doggy is experiencing heat stroke (high body temperature, collapse, etc). When a dog is having heat stroke it is obvious and life threatening. Just general hot weather shouldn't cause vomiting let alone with blood. Causes of vomiting are: viral (especially parvo) or bacterial infections, intestinal parasites, he ate something inappropriate, pancreatitis, a blockage from eating a foreign object that is stuck, toxin ingestion, clotting or platelet problem or from something local to Lebanon. If he continues to vomit with blood that is an emergency and he should be seen by a Vet. If he is lethargic and won't eat currently he should see a Vet. Otherwise I would start a bland diet of boiled chicken breast with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days to rest his stomach. i wish you the best!

My dog has not been eating and is not as energetic as she usually is. She had dhiarrea and then blood in her stool. Her stool is also small drops.
Poor Luna! She could have an infection (parvo, etc) or a parasite. Since she has bloody stool and is lethargic, she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. Your vet can test a stool sample to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat the problem. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. Hope she gets better soon!

Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! I am sorry to hear Xena isn't feeling well lately. There are many medical causes for the symptoms she is experiencing. She may indeed be in heat which often presents with vuvla swelling and vaginal discharge which can be straw, pink tinged, or red colored. Vomiting, lethargy, shivering,and not eating however, are not typical signs associated with being in heat and may be symptoms of something a little more serious. My recommendation would be for Xena to see a veterinarian very soon so she can be diagnosed and appropriately treated. If she is vomiting today, withhold food from her tonight (she can have water) and if she goes the night without vomiting, you can reintroduce a small amount of her normal food tomorrow morning. I hope this helps and I hope she can see a veterinarian very soon!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco. If Hachi is having some loose, bloody stool I would recommend a vet visit. She may just have a GI upset from stress, but if she is also lethargic she may dehydrated to the point of needing fluids or medications. In some cases of gastroenteritis, dogs may require hospitalization for IV fluid therapy. I hope Hachi is feeling better soon.
