My dog ate a whole banana loaf cake. Is it toxic for dogs?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 10 months old | 75 lbs

I have a 75lb pitbull x and a 20lb pitbull cross puppy. One of them pulled a banana loaf cake off my counter and they ate the whole thing. Should I be worried?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Luna. Naughty pups! Also thank you for posting a picture of the packaging, that really helps! I don't see any ingredients that are toxic, but the sugar can cause some GI upset. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or a loss of appetite, have them seen by a vet. Otherwise, they should be ok. I hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Bananas are not toxic to dogs, but a dog eating anything out of the ordinary has the potential to cause GI upset. Dogs and their intestines are used to consistency, so if a new type of food is introduced, there is always a risk of GI upset, likely only mild in nature. Watermelon is also non-toxic, but should NEVER be given to a dog with the rind attached. Eating the rind puts your dog at risk of a gastrointestinal obstruction, or a blockage of their intestines, which is a surgical emergency. I hope this is helpful!

Dogs can be pretty sneaky sometimes! Lucy should be ok, but you may see some GI upset. If you do see GI upset in the form of vomiting and diarrhea, I would have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

My dog ate a whole loaf of banana bread last night. Today he is drooling a lot. I gave him a little pumpkin. Is anything else I should do or watch for?
Poor guy. He likely has a bit of an upset stomach. I am not sure what ingredients were in the banana bread, but there likely wasn't enough to cause any toxicity concerns. The drooling is a sign of nausea, poor guy. Try feeding him a bland diet today and tomorrow of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. Then continue to monitor him for any vomiting or refusal to eat his food or diarrhea. If he doesn't seem better by tomorrow, then it is a good idea to have him seen by your vet for anti-nausea medication and supportive care, but he likely will improve by tomorrow. My 18 pound miniature poodle just ate one bite of lemon poppy seed bread. Should I be concerned?
I would not be concerned if Dani only ate one bite of a lemon poppyseed muffin. Please monitor GI upset like vomiting and diarrhea and if these occur you may offer a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice. If vomiting or diarrhea does occur and is severe you may need to have Dani examined to see if medication is needed. Again, I think it's highly unlikely Dani will become sick but do suggest monitoring her for the next day or so to ensure she doesn't get mild stomach upset. Hey I fed my dog 2 bananas and I just got to know that only half a banana per day should be fed to a dog . Is my dog fine ?
I am sorry to hear about your concern for Baburoa. Bananas are not toxic so he just may experience some gastrointestinal upset such as diarrhea or constipation, and in rare cases vomiting. Many dogs will not experience any of these symptoms and will show no change, it just depends on how sensitive your dog's stomach is.

My 10 m/o 25lb puppy ate some candies. What should I do ?
This candy is not toxic for your pup. It's a lot of sugar, so he may be a bit hyperactive and may have some intestinal upset (vomiting or diarrhea). If he has vomiting or diarrhea that lasts for more than 24 hours, is very lethargic, or otherwise seems off, I would recommend a vet visit, but there's nothing you need to do right now. While we were away 10:30am-2:00 pm today, Golden Retriever at home apparently ate 2-3 oz of milk chocolate with crispy rice. Dog weighs 95 lb, shows no symptoms of distress. What action should I take?
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Luna. While it's not good that she ate this chocolate, you don't need to do anything. The amount she ate will cause minimal to no reaction. At most you may see some GI upset, but other than that, she should be ok. I hope this helps!

My dog ate a small piece of pumpkin pie. What are the effects or should I be worried?
Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Pumpkin pie is generally not considered toxic as long as xylitol is not used in the pie for sweetening. I would expect side effects such as diarrhea and vomiting. I would feed a bland diet of chicken and rice if these signs develop and feed for at least 3 days past the resolution of the vomiting. Hello, my dog just ate a small slice of pumpkin pie from Costco while I stepped away from my desk. She is a 12 week old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. Should I be concerned? Is there anything I should do?
I am sorry that Shelby has eaten your slice of pie, but I would not be overly concerned. I have looked up the ingredients in Costco’s pumpkin pie recipe and there does not seem to be any toxic ingredients. Nutmeg can be toxic for dogs, but it does not appear to be in their recipe. Because it is only one small slice Shelby should be fine, however, pie has a large amount of sugar and fat in it and this may cause some gastrointestinal upset. to help prevent this I would advise the following; Rest her stomach for 6 hours by withholding a meal Then provide a bland diet of boiled chicken breast skinless and steamed white rice. If you notice and vomiting, diarrhoea or discomfort she may have developed pancreatitis which is a common condition when dogs ingest a large amount of fatty food. This is unlikely however, if you suspect it please post a further question here on the forum or take her to see her veterinarian. Best of luck and thank you for suing Boop by Petco.
