What breed is my dog? He has thick fur, a husky tail, and floppy ears.

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 5 years and 6 months old | 30 lbs

At first I thought he was a German Shepherd but it's been two years now and his ears haven't went up yet. His tail looks like it could be from a husky and he has A LOT of fur. I thought it was a thick coat because of the winter but it is summer now and his fur is still really thick. Do you think you guys could tell the breeds in him from these photos?

Boxen is so cute! I don't see any German Shepherd in him in the pictures. He has that feathering on his back legs like you would see with a Golden Retriever, but it looks like a Lab face. I can't say for certain what his breeds are, but he is adorable!

Hello. Teddy is a very handsome boy. He does look like a German Shepherd, but it is possible he has a very small amount of another breed in him. It is also possible that he had some issues when he was a puppy that affected the cartilage in his ears, & this is what is preventing them from standing erect. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sharon is beautiful! I agree he looks like mostly husky but not pure bred. I would think he could have white German Shepherd or Spitz if his tail curls. Sadly we may never know and everyone likely has a different opinion! I hope this helps!

Any idea what breed my dog is?? When my husband and I rescued him from a shelter, we were told that he is a shep/lab mix... but we are wondering if he has a hound in him as well... He is 6 month old and 42lbs.
I think he certainly could have some hound in him. I also think his face and ears look a little like a Great Dane, although he's not that large. I definitely can see the German Sheoherd. There are some commercially available DNA tests that can be fun and might give some other ideas although their accuracy is debatable. I think Wisdom panel is best http://www.wisdompanel.com

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Your puppy is adorable! It is common at this age for puppies to have blue-green eyes. As they get older, they usually do turn more brown. So I would assume his eye color may not stay that light. I think that your dog is likely a husky mix. But we will be able to tell more as he grows up! I hope this helps!

Can you say the specifications of my dog please
Max looks to be a German Shepherd but if there is a small amount of a different breed (like a single great grandparent), if may be difficult to detect by looks alone with so much German Shepherd genetics present. He does not have the straight back of most working lines, nor is he quite as angulated as most show lines. His breeder would be the best source of information as to the different bloodlines present and if there was a mixing of show lines and working lines. He has the more rare long coat for the breed. From the photos he appears to be black and tan with the normal saddle markings. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

What type of dog do i have
First you should know that breed identification by looks alone has been proven to be inaccurate 75% of the time. If I had to guess, I suspect a pit bull type breed and German Shepherd. However Boxer and maybe hound could also be present. If you want to know for sure, look at one of the breed tests such as Wisdom Panel. Beautiful dog!

From the little I can see of the dog, I would highly doubt that he is a purebred German Shepherd Dog. His earset is much higher than a GSD's . . . more like a Siberian's. Also, his coat is very shaggy and his head is all wrong for a GSD. That said, he may be a very, very poor specimen of the breed, although I doubt it. To be certain, DNA testing can be done to determine exactly what he is.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Jack is super cute! You can probably ask 10 vets and you'll get 10 different answers. He isn't a pure bred dog and there are likely many breeds that contributed to how Jack looks. He likely has Chow (though his tongue isn't pigmented) or Samoyed to get that type of tail. The rest is likely a retriever or shepherd mix. For fun you can do DNA test, they aren't very accurate but it might be entertaining at least. He is beautiful. If I had to guess, I'd say a husky/Keeshond or Norwegian Elkhound cross. Those beautiful blue eyes come from the husky, and that black mask with the grey, black tipped coat reminds me of the Keeshond or elkhound.
