My cat's leg wound is swollen and infected, does she need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 4.4 lbs

My cat got a big scratch in her left leg four days ago, I was putting providone in the area with cotton and i put her the Elizabethan collar so she cannot lick the area but, I noticed that it got infected so I clean the wound using antiseptic solution and a gauze and then I apply diluted providone and triple antibiotic. I repeat the process today but, what concerns me a lot is that is swollen and the wound is little bit big.

I think it looks to be healing OK. You can continue treating it as you have been. It would be best if you could get her to a vet as she probably needs oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to get this to clear up and minimize the swelling.
