New dog has bloody stool, crying, won't eat. What should I do?

I'm concerned that Baxter is sick. If he's getting a new food, this blood in his stool could be due to that. It could also be due to intestinal worms, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, or a severe stomach illness. I think it's best you take him into a vet now to get checked out.

My puppy has just had his 3rd poo of the morning and I noticed that there was a bit of blood (or what looked like blood) on the stool. It also seemed to be inside the stool as when it broke I could see other red splotches. He's had diahorrea earlier
I'd be worried in that it isn't normal for a puppy to have blood in their poop, but if he's fully vaccinated, then this wouldn't be caused by a parvovirus. He could have intestinal worms or even the mixture of his old food and new food could be causing the blood. While it's good that he is eating and drinking well and otherwise acting normally, I'd still have him seen by a vet on Monday. Bring along a sample of his feces for the vet to examine. If he starts vomiting, stops eating and drinking, and/or becomes very lethargic, then I wouldn't wait until Monday and I would rush him into an ER vet right away. In the meantime, you can try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day to see if that helps his diarrhea. If it does, then slowly add back in his normal diet after a couple of days on the the bland diet. I hope this helps!

Hi! I think I changed my puppies food too fast and now he has diarrhea and has thrown up a couple of times. Now today he has a bloody stool but he’s acting playful still. What should I do please?!
Oh no poor puppy! You are right that changing food too quickly can cause these issues, and the problem here is that he is vomiting, has diarrhea, and now has bloody stool. Even though he's acting normally, his symptoms need to be checked out by a vet immediately. Please take him into one now to get these treated. Best of luck.

I got a 3 yr old American bull dog from my friend he is 3 years old. I have had him for about a week and I noticed he has bright red blood in his stool what do I need to do?
You can add a canine probiotic to the diet that can help restore nirnak bacteria. You can feed boiled chicken and rice and yogurt also. A sample should be checked for parasites as he may need to be dewormed. Sometimes this can be caused by an infection, diet changes or stress from a new home and routine. If vomiting starts it he stops eating he needs to be seen immediately

my dog lost his appetite and is having watery bloody stools
It sounds as Hercules is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti nausea injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

I just got my puppy yesterday and he had a little bit of blood in his poop but today he pooped out just gooey blood and i'm really worried. What should I do?
Oh no. I would take him to a vet as soon as possible and have him checked for intestinal parasites and parvovirus. Either one could be the cause of his bloody discharge and need to be identified quickly so that he can start treatment right away. Howver, you can offer Pedialyte non-flavored to help keep him from getting too dehydrated. It is unfortunate that a pet you just adopted is ill; however, you can't help Shiner on your own and you should allow your veterinarian to care for him and his illness from here moving forward. Hey there, My puppy of 11 weeks old has started pooing a little bit of blood. Ive seen it for about the past day or two. He still loves playing arond and eats all his food that we give him so it doesnt seem to be harming him but we are worried. Also
Bloody stool in a young dog that isn't vaccinated is a concerning sign. It's possible the cause could be from illness, internal parasites, irritation of the digestive tract, or more. Since it has continued for more than a day it is best to schedule a veterinary appointment to have it checked out. Be sure to note if you see any other symptoms develop such as vomiting, diarrhea, changes to appetite, etc.

My dog bailey isn't doing very well she likes to eat canned cat food and dog food and now she won't have any stool just blood the fastest we can get her into the vet is tomorrow what should I do??
I would try to see your vet on an emergency basis today if at all possible. Bloody stool and not eating in a very young puppy could indicated something serious going on like Parvo. Bailey will need to be tested for Parvo and if positive, will need to be treated with antibiotics, nausea medication and fluids to prevent dehydration. The sooner you get her treatment started the better. Good luck.

My 3.5 month old puppy just had a change in environment...he's eating less and having soft stools with some blood at the end of defecation. He recently was treated for giardia and cocci which has all came back negative. please help
If he's eating and acting fine give him a day or two to settle into his new environment. The soft stool with blood may be due to stress. If it continues please take another sample in to check again for parasites as they can come back even if he's already been treated. If Teddy is acting sick do take him in sooner for an exam. I'm sorry to hear your dog is sick! The black and bloody is very concerning to me. Black stool can indicated a gastrointestinal ulcer. Dogs with kidney problems or exposure to toxin can also have black or bloody stool and this can be an emergency. I recommend you take your dog to a veterinarian right away. With these pups, there is always a potential for parasites or bacterial overgrowth to cause the symptoms. I would recommend to get Parks in for an exam and to have the stool checked for parasites. That is usually a good sign if you don’t see any more blood, which is what I’m concerned you were seeing in the stool. It’s better to be safe and also to make sure he doesn’t have any parasites to spread to his new human family. There are other causes for blood in the stool as well and these can vary from a new diet to internal organ damage. The first step is to rule out the most common things.
