What are the best glucosamine chews for dogs with severe allergies?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 80 lbs

Hi! I have a 2-year-old gsd. I wanted to start her on glucosamine chews, however I’m not sure which ones are the best because theres’s a lot marketed as “vet recommended”. She is also allergic to all poultry, seashells, coconuts, pork/ham, and lamb. With that in mind, what would you recommend to be the best glucosamine vitamins for her? Thank you!

Dasuquin may work for Sable. I'd check that out! Cosequin has glucosamine derived from shellfish. You said she is allergic to seashells, but did you mean shellfish? If you meant shellfish, then Cosequin won't be good for her.

My dog has pretty bad food allergies. She’s been on Royal Canin rabbit and potato and their hydrolyzed treats for a while now and it has stopped her from scratching her ears open. I’m just wondering if there is some sort of dog bone or raw hide I mig
I would avoid it. When dogs have bad food allergies, it's best to only stick with the food that prevents them from having symptoms. Adding in another treat could cause Charli's allergies to flare up and have symptoms again. It's best to keep giving her the hydrolyzed treats. I hope this helps!

What supplements would you suggest for joint health and allergies? He has had mild infrequent seizures, and I want to make sure that nothing I give him with make cause a reaction.

What are good joint supplements for dogs?
Dasuquin with MSM and Cosequin DS Plus MSM (both by Nutramax Labs) are excellent products. I prefer these because it is the same company that makes the human product, Cosamin, and one of the few companies that submits its products for outside testing to verify ingredients. The GlycoFlex line of products would also be one to consider. These are my own personal recommendations.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would put her on a Glucosamine AND Omega 3 fish oils. I like Dasquinn treats and for fish oils I prefer VRS Omega Benefits but it is a liquid. Otherwise try Nordic naturals. Cosequin is a very good joint supplement for dogs. I'd also recommend Dasuquin. It's another good brand. If you are feeding Dasani a high quality dog food, you do not need to add vitamins to her diet. Too many vitamins can lead to toxicity. I hope this helps!

Hello. Honestly, I recommend either Nordic Naturals or Bayer Free Form Snip Tips. Both of these are highly recommended by veterinary dermatologists, too. You will need to call other veterinarians to see who carries Cytopoint. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is a great question! I think the ones that are specifically designed for dogs are way more complete. I would recommend you consider Cosequin or Dasuquin as both cover all the joint supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitin that are great for joint health. Both of these are over the counter. You are usually able to see a marked improvement within weeks to a few months. Best of luck!

Great question! I really like Dasuquin and Cosequin as joint supplements for dogs. I have found that in senior dogs with arthritis, Dasuquin is a great option because it contains ASU, which stands for Avocado & Soybean Unsaphonifiables. ASU is seen as considerably more effective in regards to repairing stiff, sore, and injured joints. For Oscar, I'd recommend Dasuquin. I hope this helps!

11 year old Chiquita has suddenly gotten a skin/ allergy condition. She was proscribed Aqoquel, we can’t afford the meds and Benadryl isn’t helping any other suggestions?
Dogs can develop allergies, just like humans. Try starting her on an omega-3 fatty acid supplement for dogs. It will take about a month to take affect. You should also change her food to one of the die it’s aimed at skin health such as Royal Canin or Nutro. If this does not help, I recommend to discuss other options with your veterinarian.
