My dogs have hairless, scabby spots. Could this be ringworm?

Both of my dogs have different spots that don’t have hair and a slightly scabby. Is this ringworm?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Frank. Yes, it could be ringworm or it could be something else contagious like mange or fleas. I'd have them both seen by a vet in the morning to have this diagnosed and treated. I hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. It looks more like a hot spot or a bruise. It doesn't really look like a ringworm but it is hard to be sure without examining Penny in person. Please, take all the precautions you would if it was ringworm (use gloves or wash your hand after touching the area) and take Penny to your local vets tomorrow.

My dog has a blank spot. We think it has always been there, but it seems to have gotten bigger. We wonder if it may be ringworm?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Judging from the photo, it does not appear to be ringworm to me. This could be a skin parasite such as Demodex or a skin infection. I would recommend having Angel seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. This spot looks like ringworm to me. That is probably why your ointment is not working. I suggest you get Loki to the vet for an exam. They can give you a proper diagnosis and prescribe the correct medication.

Hello. This does not look like a typical lesion associated with ringworm. It looks more like a focal area of irritation/inflammation from an insect bite/sting, allergies or just some other cause. Please see your vet as the appropriate medication will probably clear this up quickly. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Im not sure what this is on our friend tika. But I just noticed it today ../: what do you guys think it is ?!?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Tika evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going with Tika, wear gloves when handling this lesion. Good luck and best wishes!

Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. Without a fungal culture, it is very difficult to definitively diagnose ringworm. There are a lot of skin issues that can look red, crusty or flaky & not all of them will be ringworm. Using a combination of antifungal & antibacterial products is a great idea. For any shampoo, make sure the lather stays on the skin for at least 10 minutes before rinsing. If there is no improvement after about 3 weeks, or the skin lesions get worse, please have your veterinarian examine them

My Shorkie has patches all over her body that start out with a tiny black rice sized and shaped that than turns into round scab. The vet has been treating her with Simplex and that didn't work so now another antibiotic for another kind of infection.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Maggie! I think the 2 most possible causes are ring worm (though I agree not classic in appearance) or a skin infection. You can start bathing Maggie in a medicated shampoo. Bathe 2-3 times per week and leave the later on for 10 mins before rinsing. You can do that until your appointment next week. Hello, my dog has developed these sores on his body, he has been to the vet and they prescribed antibiotics and a shampoo, they don’t seem to know exactly what it is though. Can you help please ? Any advice would help
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that Rocco has these spots on his body. They look like they could be ringworm, which is a fungus that infects the skin and causes patchy round area of redness and hairloss. Often a topical antifungal shampoo or cream will help treat this, however in some cases oral antifungal medication may be needed. I recommend monitoring Rocco's response to the treatments that your veterinarian prescribed, and have him evaluated again if signs worsen or do not start to improve within a week! My dog has recently lost a patch of hair on her cheek. She has had treatment for skin mites that were causing her hair loss and red white bumps on her stomach. Could this be ringworm?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. If Penelope has had treatment for mites and the other lesions resolved but not this one, this could be a separate problem such as ringworm, different mite or a benign tumor. I would recommend having the veterinarian look at this to help determine what the cause could be. Different medication would be needed for ringworm and if it is a tumor, it is likely what we call a histiocytoma, which is common in young dogs and resolves on its own. I hope this helps!
