My dog has a watery, green, crusty eye. Is it allergies or infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 40 lbs

My dog has a watery eye and had a green crusty in the corner. Is this conjunctivitis or allergies? He has also been rubbing his eyes and licking his paws. The second picture is the watery eye.

Thank you for contacting PetCoach with your question about Brutus. I suspect he has an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. You need to take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Tonight, put an Ecollar on him to keep him from rubbing his eyes and potentially making things worse. I will put a link below on how to make one at home. I hope this helps! http://dogsaholic.com/care/homemade-dog-cone.html
