My dog has loose stool with goo and white clumps. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 9 years and 10 months old | 17 lbs

My dog has been having somewhat loose stool with goo. He's been going in the house frequently lately which is unlike him. Today he had some weird white yellowish stuff in it. It was like a clump of mini seeds like stuff but was soft. I've attached photos. Should I be concerned or just try some chicken and rice?

If he is otherwise acting normally you could try a bland diet and a probiotic for a few days to see if that helps. I am not sure what the yellow thing is in the stool. Just keep monitoring it and if it you keep noticing that or the diarrhea does not clear up then he should see a vet.
