My puppy has worms in his poop. Are they deadly? What treatment?

We found worms in my 11 week old golden mixed with Jack Russel puppy’s poop. I searched up what the conditions could possibly be and it said a hookworm. Are these deadly? And how long will it last? What can I do?

These look like roundworms. No they aren't deadly, but heavy burdens can make a puppy quite sick. Bailey will need a deworming treatment. I recommend Panacur or Drontal. Give him a dose asap. then another dose two weeks after the first to kill all the worms.

I would advise using a broad spectrum de-worming product to rid your Pup of the infestation. If he is passing these many in his feces he has a high worm burden and needs treatment. You can purchase a broad spectrum worming treatment from a veterinarian, online or at a pet store.

This is a roundworm indeed, you need to go to the pet shop, you should be able to find a puppy dewormer there, it should only take a few days until your puppy is worm free after the treatment is given.

These are roundworms. They are a common parasite for puppies to acquire at birth and don't tend to cause any major problems. They are easily treatable with deworming medication that can be purchased at a pet store, or a veterinary office. I recommend having a vet prescribe the medication to ensure it's safe for Oreo and proper instructions are given. I hope that helps and all is well with Oreo.

My 9 week old pup, Buster is pooping normal, however i have found a few worms in his poop. Could he be expelling dead worms,as he isnt showing any of the normal signs of worms?
Hi there! If you're seeing worms in his stool, this definitely indicates that he has some intestinal parasites - roundworms and hookworms are extremely common in puppies this age. They won't go away on their own and can be quite dangerous for his health, so I would recommend treating him with a broad-spectrum dewormer like Strongid or Panacur - you can get these over the counter at most pet stores. Just follow the instructions on the package based on Buster's weight. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can take a fecal sample in to your vet's office and have them test it to determine exactly what kind of parasites are present. They will then prescribe an appropriate dewormer for him depending on what is found.

If they looked like spaghetti, they were probably roundworms. All pups get them from their mother, so it's expected that they would have them. They should be dewormed every 2 weeks starting at 2 weeks of age until 8 weeks, and then should have a fecal test run. You may see more worms coming out as they die. For the weight, I'd recommend checking weights daily with a baby or kitchen scale so you can bring them to the vet if they aren't gaining. I hope that helps!

My dog just pooped out a pile of roundworm. He is only 8 weeks old and i’m assuming it came from the mother. Do you think all the worms are gone or is there probably more ?
There will be more! Give Toby a deworming treatment like Panacur or Drontal. He will need one every two weeks until he is 12 weeks old. Then one every month until he is six months of age, and after that he should be dewormed once every three months.

Poor pup. Roundworms are very common in puppies, because they can get infected while still in their mothers tummy (in utero) and through the mother's milk. To treat roundworms Harry just needs a broad spectrum dewormer like Pyrantel Palmoate or Fenbendazole. 1 treatment given today and then again in 2 weeks. To prevent roundworm infestations in the future Harry needs to get on a monthly heartworm preventative, which has natural intestinal dewormer in it as well. Harry will need to see a vet to get a prescription for the heartworm preventative (i.e. Heartgard, Trifexis, etc), but the intestinal dewormer can be purchased through your local pet store. Your pup should be just fine once he is treated. : )

Yes, it does look like Gizmo has worms! They appear to be roundworms, which can be killed with an OTC deworming treatment called Panacur. You can get Panacur at a pet store or your vet's clinic. It's a three day course of treatment, and Gizmo will need a second dose of it two weeks after the first was given to kill all the worms. He should then be dewormed every three months thereafter.

I'm not sure what deworming treatment you used, but if it didn't contain praziquantel, then it will not kill tapeworms if Willow has them. Tapeworms require praziquantel to kill. In addition, the life cycle of intestinal worms is around 2-3 weeks, so when a puppy does have worms, he needs to initially be dewormed every two weeks at first to kill all the worms. The first treatment kills the adults present while the second one kills the worms that had not yet hatched at the time of the first treatment. After that, he can be dewormed monthly. I would give him another deworming treatment now, one that includes praziquantel such as Drontal. Give him another dose in two weeks, and then deworm him monthly until he is six months old. After that, he should be dewormed every three months. As a side note, it is never recommended to give dogs pork. Raw pork contains parasites called trichinella spiralis larvae, which can cause the parasite infection known as trichinosis. In addition, po

Hi there and thanks for posting! This looks to me like a roundworm which are very common in puppies. Typically, puppies get roundworms from their mother's during pregnancy and during nursing. I would recommend Sofia get dewormed with a solution or product containing pyrantel. She will need to be dewormed 2-3 times, each time 2 weeks apart from each other. Your veterinarian will have this medication for Sofia and will probably want to do a fecal parasite screening test to confirm she is negative for all parasites after treatment.
