Senior cat throwing up all food after eating. Is this an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 11 lbs

I switched my older cat to royal canon last month because she’s getting older and always gets hair balls. She was doing better when it came to throwing up but now the last few days she is throwing up both the soft food and hard food shortly after eating. She has a vet appointment Friday but I was hoping for some advice beforehand to ease my concern

It is very concerning that Peanut is vomiting shortly after eating, and I do not think she can wait until Friday to see the vet. She sounds pretty sick to me, and I think she should see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
