This means Shadow is in pain, and unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give her. Many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Please have her seen by a vet now to get safe pain medication.

No, unfortunately not, there are no OTC pain medications for dogs. Many human ones are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. She sounds in a lot of pain if she can't hardly get up. She has to see a vet now. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. What can I give my otherwise healthy, intact, 8 year old German Shepherd for pain, I think she sprained her rear ankle. She doesn't have hip dysplasia. She is normally active and happy, now she's quiet and withdrawn.
There is nothing OTC that can safely be given to your dog. Many OTC medications are toxic or can easily be overdosed. Additionally, our experts are legally prohibited from recommending medications in the absence of a physical exam and a VPCR (veterinarian-patient-client relationship). Restrict her activity for the rest of the night and tomorrow. A warm compress can be applied for 10-15 minutes. If the lameness persists or if she is extremely painful, have her physically examined by your veterinarian. Afterwards, an appropriate medication can be administered or dispensed. Never medicate a pet without the advice of your veterinarian.

I'm sorry Taz is in pain! He really should see a vet for this problem, as it's not nice to leave him in pain. Unfortunately you cannot give him any OTC pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The best you can do is rest him. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If this does not help, tell your parents you spoke to a vet who strongly urged you to take him into a vet. Best of luck.

If you're still seeing the same veterinarian that's saw Shadow the first time/most recent time she had this issue you could consider calling them and seeing if they will approve over the phone pain medication. In the meantime I would recommend continuing keeping her rested/exercise restricted. This may mean keeping her in a kennel when you're not home or small room that has a nonskid surface. She should only go outside for bathroom purposes only. If she has increasing pain, weakness of any limb, or starts dragging her a leg she needs to be seen by a veterinarian immediately. Unfortunately legally we can't advise any oral medications via Internet consultation. I would advise you not to give any human pain medication as they could be toxic to dogs.
