Snowy could have a stomach illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or pancreatitis causing the vomiting. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

As long as she continues to improve and isn't losing weight, I would continue as you have been, small frequent meals, and keeping her well hydrated with constant clean fresh water or low sodium chicken broth. You can entice her to eat a little more by warming the food gently in the microwave, being sure to test it for excessive heat the same way you would for a baby, stick your finger in it and stir it around. If she eats dry food at all, you can wet it with low sodium chicken broth and warm it too to make it more aromatic and appetizing. If her appetite doesn't improve or she refuses food, becomes lethargic, starts vomiting, then I would get her in to see your vet as soon as possible.

Vomiting is a very vague sign and could indicate several different things going on. Some of the more common causes of vomiting include intestinal parasites, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach wall), pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, or a foreign body/blockage. If your cat has been sick for more than 2 days I would recommend taking him to the vet. He may be dehydrated and need fluids as well as some antinausea medication to help stop the vomiting. Your vet may also want to run some lab work and take x-rays as well. In the meantime, try withholding food (water is ok) for 12-24 hours to see if this helps settle the stomach. When it is time to offer food again you may want to try and feed him something easily digestible like plain boiled chicken and rice and see if he can keep it down. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck!

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Vomiting can be a symptom of many different things. Vomit can consist of just foam, bile, food , etc. I would recommend starting a bland diet of chicken and rice and feed this at least 3 days past the resolution of the vomiting. I would also add in a probiotic such as Purina fortiflora which can be found online quite easily or at your local pet store. If the vomiting persists or worsens then I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
