Why is my dog throwing up yellow foam every morning but still active?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 11 years and 1 month old | 35 lbs

Dog has thrown up 2x this month (a week after another), she had her vaccines updated recently. When she vomits is yellow and foamy and both times it occured in the morning. She also is moaning and whining occasionally, her nose feels warm to the touch and it has been runny at times. Other than that, she's eating and pooping regularly and she's lively enough to play with her toys for a little while.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Gracie. Poor girl. It could be that she is suffering from something like acid reflux causing her to vomit in the morning occasionally. She may also be feeling unwell leading her to moan and whine. Her nose being warm isn't necessarily a sign of illness. I'd have her seen by a vet for this occasional vomiting. If she does have a problem like acid reflux, the vet can diagnose medication to help help. Best of luck.
