My dog is vomiting and has diarrhea. What should I do to help?

My dog has vomited her food and now having diarrhea with even getting up from sleeping what can I give her to help settle her stomach and bowls

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Tia. Oh no, poor girl. Unfortunately when a dog has both vomiting and diarrhea, it's time to see a vet. I cannot legally recommend any OTC drugs without seeing her in person as well. You need to take her into a vet immediately, so please have her seen by an ER vet now. Best of luck.

I recommend that you have Toffee evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start him on medications to make him feel better and check his hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Hi there. My 11 year old chihuahua has been vomiting and having diarrhea since 6am until now. It's been just over 6 hours. The vomit went from dark brown to now a milky white. Diarrhea only occured twice but vomiting occured 4 times. I was wondering
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Kiki! The concern I have for Kiki is how long and how much vomiting and diarrhea she has had. Dehydration is a real concern for a dog her size. It is best that she gets seen by your Vet today. They can decide if she needs blood work or X-rays. They can at least give her fluids, antacids, something to stop the vomiting and medication for her diarrhea. Causes of vomiting and diarrhea are: dietary indiscretion (eating something gross), intestinal parasites, toxins, metabolic conditions (liver, kidney disease), viral and or bacterial infections. If you want to try her at home, I would withhold food for 12-24 hours and water for 6 hours. In 6 hours offer ice cubes or very small amounts of water. If she stops vomiting then tomorrow start "sip and nibble" of a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice as small frequent meals. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs of body wait until stools are normal. If she continues to vomit while being fasted or when fo

Vomiting and diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Dixie evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!

Hi and thank you for using Boop by Petco. Given Boomer's older age and the acute onset of the vomiting/diarrhea, I would have him seen sooner rather than later by a veterinarian. Boomer could just have an upset stomach, but he also could have a foreign body, an infection or even a tumor causing these signs. Your vet will perform a full physical exam and determine if any additional diagnostic testing is needed (bloodwork, xrays ) and what treatments he made need. Good luck!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! The clinical signs you describe are concerning as they can be seen with gastrointestinal infections. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Zaffer evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they address dehydration if present and start her on anti-nausea medications. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl!

Hi there! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is difficult to know exactly what is going on based on that as vomiting and diarrhea can be observed with many conditions. Having said that, this can be observed in cases of gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among many other conditions. I recommend that you withhold food tonight but keep water available at all times to avoid dehydration. You may start a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice tomorrow. If clinical signs of vomiting and diarrhea continue, have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Good luck!

Vomiting and diarrhea can be caused by many conditions primarily gastrointestinal in nature such gastroenteritis and gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. You could try a bland diet composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice which is easily digestible and can help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. Yes I would definitely take her to the vet and I would recommend you bring the most recent fecal sample in along with you too. It would be a bacterial issue, parasitic or inflammatory digestive issue. Potentially a diet related problem so best to talk with your vet and they check Jada out and run some initial tests.

My dog is about nine months old. She has diarrhea, she does not eat any of her dog foods, and she threw up a couple of days ago. Should I be concerned?
Dogs with vomiting and diarrhea that are not improving within 24 hours should be seen by a veterinarian. Intestinal foreign body, intestinal parasites, and parvovirus are among the common causes in young dogs. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
