Why is my cat's eye pink, watery, and he keeps rubbing and squinting?

My cat’s right eye is pink above it, watering and he keeps rubbing it and squinting we are gone during the day and came home to him like this.

It sounds like Samson has an eye infections and him rubbing it can make it much worse. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into the vet first thing in the morning.

You will need to take Simba into a vet as soon as possible. It sounds like he has an eye infection, and leaving an eye infection untreated can lead to vision loss. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Puma. His eyes do look very red and irritated. He will need to see his veterinarian as he likely has an eye infection and will require medication. If it is not an infection, it could be allergies even a scratch across the surface of the eye. His veterinarian will evaluate the eyes using an instrument known as an ophthalmoscope and may place a drop of dye in each as well. In the meantime, keep the eyes clear of any discharge. It could be Moxie has an eye infection causing the issues you are seeing. I would take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Any eye problem needs to be checked out promptly because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can treat his eye as needed. Best of luck.

My cats eye looks watery, slightly pink and slightly swollen shut. It was like this for about a day a month ago but cleared itself before I could take him to the vets, but now has returned tonight. Could you let me know what this could be? Can’t see
The pictures are quite dark, so it's not possible to actually see the eye, but this type of case is usually due to a scratch to the outside of the eye, or a foreign body stuck under the eyelid. Scratches to the outside of the eye are not usually easy to see and we often need to apply a special stain to the eye in order to detect it. For now, it's best if you can flush the eye with normal saline. Saline flush can be bought at the pharmacy, or supermarket in the eye care section. Flush the eye 3-4 times daily and gently wipe away the discharge with a warm/moist cotton or cloth. Below is a link to a good video that demonstrates how to flush the eye. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lXVNMcPzhs If the eye is still swollen tomorrow, then it's best to take him to the vet for an exam. It's also possible that there is an infection in the eye, or conjunctiva that is causing this. The vet should be able to narrow-down the cause of this rather quickly and provide the necessary treatment

I would recommend taking her to the vet today. It could be an infection, conjunctivitis, or a corneal ulcer or abrasion. The vet will do a thorough exam and use a special stain to see if there is an ulcer. Then they will prescribe appropriate medications. Try to keep her from rubbing the eye any more, as this could cause trauma to the eyeball.

I see what you mean. He could be squinting because the light is painful to his eye, and it may be he has injured his eyes or has an eye infection. It sounds like Simon either has an eye infection or he has something stuck in the eye. Rubbing the eye can make it worse and he could accidentally scratch the cornea. Since he is uncomfortable and with the potential for further complications, I recommend to have him examined by his veterinarian today. Best to play it safe. The ointment you got from Amazon won't be prescription strength, which is why it isn't helping. You need to take him into the vet to get prescription eye medication. It is bothering him if he's rubbing it a lot and is light sensitive. Please bring him into a vet today. Best of luck.
