Why is my cockapoo's mouth swollen, crusty, and painful?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Female | spayed | 12 years and 8 months old | 16 lbs

Hey I have a 12 year old female cockapoo, the outside of her mouth is so inflamed. It is swollen and crusty and she scratches it so hard it makes her yelp:( She doesn’t like anyone touching it, even if u touch it in the slightest she will cry. She has trouble eating because of it and I want to help my poor baby!! She has had this for a very long time is there anything you think would take the swelling down or anything !? Thanks so much in advance :)

Oh no, poor Roxy! That swelling is really bad. Yes, there may be medication that can help with it, but only a vet can prescribe it. She sounds miserable, so I would take her into a vet immediately.
