My female dog has pink vaginal discharge. Should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 9 months old | 30 lbs

My 9yr old bitch had diarrhoea which has now cleared but she is having a discharge that is like a dusky pink colour thicker than water but not a gel she seems fine otherwise lively eating drinking normal any advise would be welcome please

I am assuming you are talking about vaginal discharge. This can be caused by a number of things. Both the urethra and vaginal openings exit the vaginal/vulvar area so discharge could indicate a problem with the urinary tract or with the reproductive tract. With any strange discharge, it is a good idea to schedule a veterinary appointment to check it out. If the discharge becomes cloudy, green or yellow in color, it is best to seek veterinary care as soon as possible as that may indicate something more serious such as a uterine infection.
