Just got a puppy! When can I bathe him, deworm, and is his poop okay?

Pet's info: Dog | Cane Corso | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 16 days old | 54 lbs

1.I want to give my puppy a warm bath. Its dusty and bit smelly. I think breeder did not give him his first bath yet. Its his 2nd day here in my house. 2. Should i deworm him? Because i dont have any record of deworming in his vaccination record book. 3. I am feeding him 4 times a day 120 ml puppy milk and 20 gms to 25 gms of royal canin maxi starter dry feed in each meal. He urinates whole the day a lot but he has pooped once each night. Please need expert advice.

1. It's fine to give Dante a bath. Use warm water and Dawn dish soap. Make sure he's dried thoroughly. 2. Yes, definitely deworm him. 3. It sounds like you are feeding him a good meal, and it's fine he only poops once a day. I'd be worried if he wasn't pooping at all. I hope this helps!

Congratulations on your new addition! He is handsome. Expect him to be a bit shy for a few days as he adjusts to his new home and surroundings. You can try a pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, to ease his transition. You can add some warm water or a teaspoon of canned food to get him to eat. If you haven't already, start him on a regular feeding schedule. Dogs thrive on routine. prepare his meal and leave it down for 20-30 minutes before picking it up whether he has eaten or not. repeat this at the next mealtime. Do not feed him between meals except for training rewards. Also, do not switch foods trying to find something he will eat. This can create or reinforce a finicky eater. He can be bathed every 6-8 weeks. Use a pet approved shampoo and conditioner. Spot cleaning between baths can be done using pet wipes or plain, unscented baby wipes. An essential fatty acid supplement, such as fish oil capsules, can be used to promote healthy skin and coat.

Sorry for the technical difficulties - my link doesn’t seem to be attaching! Regardless, there are lots of good oatmeal-based shampoo options! I also recommend taking them in to the vet soon for their first distemper/parvo vaccine, as well as their deworming. Pups are generally born with intestinal parasites. Hope this helps!

My three month old puppy hasn't had any shots or anything like that and I noticed he's pooing out worms can someone tell me what to do?
Poor Blue! I'm sorry that he's pooping out worms. It's very common for puppies to have intestinal parasites, so don't worry - they're very easy to treat in most cases :) Depending on the type of worm that you are seeing, you may be able to get an over-the-counter dewormer such as Panacur or Strongid to treat the problem yourself, if you wish. But if he has tapeworms (which look like flat, wiggly grains of rice), a prescription dewormer from your vet would be required to get rid of them. In addition to deworming him, I would also recommend getting him in to the vet as soon as possible for his first puppy exam and vaccines - until he is properly vaccinated, he is at high risk of coming down with a potentially fatal illness like parvo or distemper.

I got a little puppy from street dont know what breed it was...but has too many dandruff and insects in his fur..so can you tell how can i wash him or bath him??
I would bath the puppy with Dawn dish soap and warm water, combing out all the fleas. Take him into a vet to get an approximate age so that you can use a safe flea treatment program on him. He's very cute!

Oh my goodness, Charlie is so cute! Yes, you can bathe him. You should feed him puppy food, and Royal Canin is an excellent food. You can feed him the Royal Canin puppy food now. You can get a bacterial infection if he bites you hard enough and draws blood. If he bites you and draws blood, see your doctor. I hope this helps!

I am giving royal canin maxi starter and royal canin puppy milk to my dante. I am observing dryness on his coat. I gave him a bath few days back due to his dirtyness with a mild shampoo but not designed for puppies. Please advise me what should i do?
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Dante. He is in a great diet. I recommend using a shampoo and cream rinse approved for use in puppies only as puppies have sensitive skin. A fatty acid or oatmeal based formula is most moisturizing. If his coat quality does not improve though, he will need to see a veterinarian. I hope this information helps!

Duke is very young and should really be with his mommy still. Make sure you feed him canned puppy food of the best quality, he is not able to eat adequate amounts of kibble at this age. Unfortunately at this age most puppies look alike so it is not possible yet to guess or determine the breed. By the time he is a little older, around 6 months, it will be obvious what breed or mix he could be. Unless he pees on himself or gets messed up with poop, I would not bathe him yet as water could get into his ears and eyes, and might cause irritation. Between the age of 6 and 8 weeks he should get his first parvo vaccine from the vet. There are three rounds of vaccinations until the age of 12 to 16 weeks. Do not let him play with unvaccinated dogs until at least after the third round. Good luck with your puppy, he looks really sweet

I recommend to call Leo’s veterinarian and let them know that you saw a worm. They may recommend for another exam or to bring in a stool sample to test for parasites. Dogs can have different types of worms and parasites and not all of them are visible to the human eye. It is not uncommon for pets to have multiple types of worms and parasites as well. Some of these worms can be passed to humans which is why you need to know the parasite status and make sure that he gets appropriate treatment. Also, he is not finished with his vaccine boosters yet. Puppies will get vaccines every 2 to 4 weeks until they are 16 weeks of age. At that point the immune system is mature and they will get their final set of vaccines then. It is very important to make sure that you get all of the needed boosters to ensure a healthy immunity. I hope this helps.

can I deworm a puppy who has watery stools? I just got a new puppy and he has a lot of worms in his stool, but his stool is still a bit watery so I am not sure if it is advisable to deworm him just yet.
Yes, it is fine to deworm Momo. If he has a lot of worms in his stool, that may be the likely cause of the watery stool. I would give him a deworming treatment now and another in two weeks to kill all the worms. After that, he should be dewormed monthly until six month of age, and should then be dewormed every three months thereafter. I hope this helps, and congrats on the new puppy!
