I'm wondering if Koby ate just the cupcake or the cupcake plus the wrapper or the wrapper alone. The wrapper alone likely won't cause him any problems, but if the cupcake was chocolate, it will. Please post again with more information so we can help you.

My 5 pound pomeranian got a chocolate cupcake wrapper and licked it clean. She might have eaten some of the wrapper too.
No need to worry! Licking the wrapper won't be enough chocolate to cause Hazel any problems. Even eating a bit of the wrapper is not a worry. This should dissolve in her stomach acid and pass without issue. You don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!

Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Molly! Half of a paper cupcake holder isn't very big, and the paper itself should break down in her stomach. Given the small amount she ate, I would suspect this would pass without problem, but because she has some mild megacolon I would keep a close eye on her. If she starts having trouble passing feces or develops other signs such as vomiting, anorexia, or lethargy, then I would take her into the vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

She should be able to pass it on her own. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or straining to defecate. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

My dog (2 years, approximately 40 lbs) ate one chocolate cupcake (or approximately .66 oz of unsweetened cocoa) about 45 minutes ago. Should I induce vomiting?
That was naughty of Rudy to eat the cupcake! The good news is that with his weight and the amount of cocoa powder he ate, there will be minimal to no reaction from it. There is no need to induce vomiting. There is a potential for an upset stomach, diarrhea, and agitation, and if you see any GI signs, withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. Otherwise, Rudy should be fine :-)

Getting into the garbage is concerning as eating a bunch of garbage human food can cause GI upset as well as pancreatitis, but I am more concerned with the chocolate cupcake ingestion. Chocolate can be toxic to dogs based on how much they ate and what type of chocolate was used in the cupcakes. Chocolate toxicity can cause vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, panting, pacing, heavy breathing, and seizures. It would be helpful to know how many cupcakes where eaten to better inform you on what to do, but continue to keep an eye on him and monitor him for any concerning signs mentioned above. Kiba just ate about 3 slices of cake, small slices that had a very thin chocolate spread on them. We had guests over and didn't notice him stealing them. Is he going to get sick from it? What should we expect?
How naughty of Kiba! The toxicity from chocolate ingestion varies widely based upon the type of chocolate, amount consumed, and Kiba's body weight. For example, a 15 pound dog that ate 0.5 oz. of baker's chocolate could experience significant elevations in his heart rate and arrhythmias, whereas a 15 pound dog that ate 0.5 oz. of milk chocolate would be unlikely to have any issues. Chocolate ingestion can cause vomiting, diarrhea, elevated heart rate, arrhythmias, seizures, and even death in severe cases. Try to determine the type and amount of chocolate used in the frosting to determine if a chocolate toxicity is possible. Feel free to request a consultation or post another question for a more specific answer. There is a chance that Kiba could experience some gastrointestinal upset, such as vomiting and diarrhea, as a result of eating the cake. I came home from work to find that Manson had eaten 10 individual Kandy kakes. I'm not sure when he ate them and as of right now he's acting normal. Should I be concerned?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco. I’m not terribly concerned about this. There is not enough chocolate to really affect a dog this size. Possible concerns would be an obstruction from the wrappers if he ate those too OR pancreatitis flare up if there is alot of fat in those cakes. Otherwise, I’d monitor for vomiting and diarrhea. Chocolate toxicity can take from four to 24 hours to show symptoms. Without knowing the type of chocolate in the cupcake, I can't say for certain if she will be ok or not. If it was made with cocoa, I would be extremely concerned as it is the most toxic type of chocolate. Because I don't know the type of chocolate in the cupcake, the best thing to do is to take Maggy into a vet immediately for decontamination procedures to prevent chocolate toxicity from occurring.

There is so little chocolate in Reeses, and even less sticks to the wrapper, that you do not have to worry about chocolate intoxication. Just make sure it did not eat a big wrapper, as it may cause an intestinal obstruction.

My dog ate a cupcake wrapper three days ago and threw up for a few hours the next day, but now is fine and eating well. The only issue is that now she can't produce a bowel movement..could she just be constipated or should I be worried?
Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. If Aubie is eating, drinking and energy level is good, then most likely the wrapper is not causing any problems. I would add canned pumpkin to her food (1/2 can in morning and at night) to see if that helps her defecate. If she is still not producing feces, is in pain when attempting to defecate or begins vomiting or show other symptoms, I would have your vet take a look at her. Abdominal x-rays should be considered if she is not improving. I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns you may have.
